Well Ive still not heard anything from Orange about my broadband, keep expecting something to come through - Im assuming they are letting people know in batches or is it likely my letter has gone missing?

  • hello all,

after reading this thread for weeks/months in anticipation of my disconnect letter i have finally received it. it gave me until jan 31st to call to sign-up for another orange deal or my bb would be disconnected.

i was ready for a fight armed with the good work other posters have done for us. i called the 0800 number on the letter earlier this morning. spoke to an operator said i'd like to complain, got put through to a supervisor and stated my case. without any problem or fuss(or high blood pressure) she enabled my bb to be free until the end of my current contract(may 2012).

so i don't know how that fits in with others here but i thought that was pretty painless. ideally i'd have liked to have free bb for life and i probably would have renewed with ee in may but now i'm not so sure. i got an email to my orange email to confirm this so i'll be getting a mac to change bb suppliers in april/may.

thanks to everyone for their efforts. i was ready to follow eva's complaint procedure but it wasn't needed this time.

now i just need to get a better deal when i change over. i'm 1 month into a bt line rental deal so i could be stuck with them but at the same time it might work out getting bb from them as i can use my nexus7 tablet at their openzone hotspots across the uk which sounds attractive.

    Hi everyone

I am still watching the forum, unable to post much, helping to pack up my son for his emigration!

Looks like another phase of letters going out, lets hope others find the forum.

Well done to everyone who has got their result - everyone who complains on the mis-sold aspect should now get their free BB reinstated until the end of their mobile contract ;) - free for life BB is unfortunately a thing of the past it would appear.

I have a meeting with my MP next week, will post when I have more news on that.

I got this on a flyer through my door just last week from Orange . They have the same one in their shops. And everyone who gets a new phone gets one.
As an Orange mobile customer, you can get our award winning home broadband half price for life - thats just £5 a month (everyone else pays £10). You'll get unlimited usage as standard, so you can use it as much as you want and never have to pay extra.
Have the advertising standards authority ever contacted Orange?
Or are they as useless as Ofcom?

As usual, during any peak period, Orange Broadband is so useless, you would get a better connection with 56k dial up. Not kidding.

Ive just had a phone call today from orange/ee to say that there will be changes and a letter will be coming in the post. As our landline is a business line we are not wanting to change so will probably end up leaving orange - but what happens with the email addresses - will we still be able to use the email addresses and would we still be able to use them with outlook express?

    thanks

Might be worth hanging on to that flyer for the next time they change the terms!

I've kept most of the odd letters they've sent out throughout this odd situation, you never know =D

    Hope this helps.

  • I'll keep it brief (ish). Orange sent the letter saying our BB would be cut off on 4th November, then cut it off on 22nd October.... 2 weeks early! I complained and (eventually, after going to OFCOM) they extented it to the end of the mobile contract. So far so good!

They then took a week to reconnect it... que over 25 telephone calls and as many broken promises of 'it'll be on in 2 hours' etc

So, I request compensation. For the many hours spent on the phone, loss of service for a week though their error, bank charges incurrec becuase I could not access my online banking to transfer money so a DD was missed.

Orange made a 'goodwill' offer, but no where near what I was asking, so we reached 'deadlock'. They are now failing to follow their own complaint proceedure and refusing to send a dead lock letter due to it being a 'business decision'... missing the point! I'm not complaining about the withdrawal of the broadband but the, cutting my service off!

My only option now is civil court, filled out the money claim online form, not sent it yet... anyone done it yet!!

    Hi

Orange do not seem to have an appetite for Court action - I would advise you to send a Notice of Pre Court action giving 10-14 days notice prior to serving the summons (my case was settled at this point) - the Court will view this favorably as it shows you gave them every opportunity to resolve the issue.

Nobby served a summons, but settled out of Court.

There is another member (Dublindel) who posted some pages back and has issued a summons for payment for his new BB provider - not sure how far along that is

Glad to report that free broadband has been given to me until next October, when my mobile contract runs out. I have to be honest I've only had to make an Ofcom call and 2 phone calls to Orange to get it. Many thanks to everyone on this forum. Roll on 10 months time when I can ditch Orange all together!
