Orange 'Free' Broadband

I found the magic word to be mis sold. They rang me twice wanting me to take their land line but when they would not budge I said I was shopping around for a better deal. The third time they rang I said I had been mis sold the contract. Thirty seconds later the supervisor was on and twenty seconds after that they had extended it twelve months to the end of contract. I did not have to say a single harsh word:rotfl:unless mis sold is a harsh word!!!0

If you think that is bad my download speed is between 1.7 and 2.00. I'm in a rural location and sadly thats what I'm used to. You must follow EVA49 posts check back a few pages and follow the post. You MUST get a reference from OFCOM and you will, by speaking to orange executive office (as they wont speak to anyone without it!!!!) be able to keep your current contract without having to switch your landline to them and keep free broadband if that was promised at the time of upgrade/renewal. . Dont think that by not getting an OFCOM reference is a shortcut, believe you me it is'nt. Follow the instructions and you will be fine.:T
I will re-post EVA49's post.:)0 -
Hi all I remember a few posts back there was some hope that BBC Watchdog might cover Orange's mis-selling of free broadband for life.
Those of you who work (as I do) might have missed there's a new Watchdog Daily programme which indeed did cover this topic. The programme is here for those of you who might like to catch up:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01p0grs/
It's about 05:23 in when they start to talk about Orange, including a screengrab of the infamous email showing the 'FREE Broadband FOR LIFE' text and indeed some images of this very thread!
EE seemed to wriggle out of making any meaningful comment at the end of the piece. The programme is live though and if people feel like venting more at EE, including any details of them backing down, it might be mentioned on tomorrow's edition if you do so. They often mention comments on the next day's programme. Can't do any harm to keep the pressure on.0 -

Orange retained their Mobile Contract Customers by offering ‘Free BB for Life’ as an inducement to renew their Mobile Contract for a minimum term, and most of us relied upon that representation that Orange would not remove this incentive, certainly, it was not foreseeable at the time of renewal this would be to our detriment some time into a new contract.
Customers are now under duress to accept the current offer which is a substantial variation in terms, and has to be acceptable…

Thanks for this, very good to see it on National TV. Watchdog deals with issues that OFCOM cant be bothered to. Who is richard Cook, is he here?:T0 -

Hi dfurn,
Thanks for posting this - I would have missed it.
So Orange / EE should be telling us all when we sign up and ask 'Will the price of a monthly contract stay the same for the period of the contract ?'
The answer should be ' No we have the right to increase our prices even though you are in a contract !'
Like wise when we all asked if our 'free' bb would continue we should have been told that they reserve the right to withdraw it at any time ! barstewards.
I can`t say I will be betting on trading standards and Ofcom doing much about it though.
Cheers.....Nobby.SMA 4000TL Inverter, 17 REC 235PE Panels, South facing, roof angle \ `ish, 3995 watt system.Installed Nov 2011.0 -

Your router stats would explain a lot as to what you SHOULD be getting. It almost sounds like you are on an old ADSLMax connection (up to 0.4meg upload, up to 8meg download).0 -

Here's a link to it.

Why then have Orange not honoured this in so many cases and given so many people the run around when they've rung up since this date?
Please post on here if your calls to Orange after the 17th October were honoured as per the letter or whether you were fobbed off and made to jump thru hoops to get your broadband extended.
Their behaviour has been disgusting and once again they have lied to Ofcom as to how they have handled this case.
But Ofcom never gave you a copy of a EE letter that said they declined permisssion to release of the info in your FOI request ?SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
