    Eva49 has spent a lot of time with her research & is to be commended for that.
    Eva has helped me so much personally with help & support, & is a person of integrity, who did not have to keep researching & posting after she had her complaint dealt with by Orange.
    She has however stayed on the forum to help others who may not have had her skills to delve into the wrongs & rights of this subject, if orange had the same kind of integrity Eva has, we would have never been in this position.
    there are also others like Eva that have the same integrity nick birkin, nobby, diamonds,etc. If any of them stood for a elected position tomorrow I for one would definitely vote for them.
    A big Thank You from me.

    I myself received £100 compensation. Sorry not allowed to use that term. “Gesture of Goodwill” was how I was told it would be, most definitely not compensation. !!! Compensation is only what you receive if they have made an error!!!! (Obviously they will not admit this error/farce, but hey, we’re onto them big time!!) I was also informed I would NOT receive this in writing quite categorically but then how would they explain the £100 good will gesture.??? It is only the Executive Office that have the power to give any form of ”goodwill gesture”. My advice is to harass them daily and escalate the problem (08000790134) until they are totally sick of you, then you might get a result. It worked for me and if they decide to cut me off, God help them, it will be lawyers and very prominent QC along with the press in court!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
    I have spoken to my local parliamentary candidate and hope that he is going to take all of these issues forward for me, along with my serious concerns regarding corruption, Ofcom, Orange mis-selling, lies, etc, etc ... the list goes on..:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:and yes my BB continues untill 2014, when sadly I'll be leaving ORANGE - Not!!!

    PS All calls I made to ORANGE and OFCOM I recorded on my phone and would make a great video on Youtube!!!! Lies,Lies and more lies!!!

    Good to know someone else got compensation - ooooopps! I mean a 'goodwill payment'!:embarasse

    Brilliant news that you have a Parliamentary candidate on board! - Lets hope we eventually get some investigation, transparency and answers via this route - and of course you are absolutely correct - we pay their salaries - it is after all part government funded - and we are the tax payers!

    Thank you to The future is bright and Jester for your very kind comments - ;)

    Onwards and upwards :beer:
  • Well I'm happy having emailed the executive office many times and getting no where I was called at the start of the week by someone at the executive office who I can only assume is someone senior as he was actually able to make offers and approve things.

    Anyway after considering their offers see my earlier post I made a counter offer of basically reducing my current contract by £10 a month (but keeping all allowances as they are making my monthly cost only £10.50) + an account credit of £84.

    Meaning for the next 8 months I won't be paying a penny to orange and for the remaining 4 months after that only £10.50 a month. So 12 months for only a total of £42 :-)

    Thanks everyone, I hope those of you still fighting get resolution.

    Ofcom operates under the Communications Act 2003. This detailed Act of Parliament spells out exactly what Ofcom should do – we can do no more or no less than is spelt out in the Act.

    The Act says that Ofcom’s general duties should be to further the interests of citizens and of consumers. Meeting these two duties is at the heart of everything we do.

    Accountable to Parliament, we are involved in advising and setting some of the more technical aspects of regulation, implementing and enforcing the law.

    Ofcom is funded by fees from industry for regulating broadcasting and communications networks, and grant-in-aid from the Government.
    What we do
    Our main legal duties are to ensure:

    • the UK has a wide range of electronic communications services, including high-speed services such as broadband;
    • a wide range of high-quality television and radio programmes are provided, appealing to a range of tastes and interests;
    • television and radio services are provided by a range of different organisations;
    • people who watch television and listen to the radio are protected from harmful or offensive material;
    • people are protected from being treated unfairly in television and radio programmes, and from having their privacy invaded; and
    • a universal postal service is provided in the UK – this means a six days a week, universally priced delivery and collection service across the country; and
    • the radio spectrum (the airwaves used by everyone from taxi firms and boat owners, to mobile-phone companies and broadcasters) is used in the most effective way.
    What we do not do We are not responsible for regulating:

    • disputes between you and your telecoms provider;
    • premium-rate services, including mobile-phone text services and ringtones;
    • the content of television and radio adverts;
    • complaints about accuracy in BBC programmes;
    • the BBC TV licence fee; or
    • post offices; or
    • newspapers and magazines.
    WHAT DOES OFCOM DO????? DO THEY KNOW THEMSELVES????:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

    I'M CONFUSED. WHAT DO THEY REALLY DO AS A DAY JOB??

    Debt-free and Proud!
    If they are funded by the very same companies they are thought to "regulate" and if they do not have to comply with anything and anybody then WHY DO THEY EXIST? It defeats the purpose!

    Ask Ofcom ! Be prepared for a brick wall though !
    SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    I know! This is why I would never ask them. My hope is for the petition. To me, it is not a matter of malpractices by one particular company anymore. There is more to it. Why did it take place on such a grand scale at all and still happening? We can see now why. Because those responsible to correct things simply aren't doing so. Corruption? Bureaucracy? Imperfect laws/loopholes? Whatever the reasons, the only way to put things right and to prevent them from happening in future is to aim high at the hierarchy of power. I believe the RobbedRobbins' petition can do just that.
  • What I find strange is that none of the Papers/Red Tops/Jurnos haven’t appeared to have picked up on this forum and shouted from their front pages that Orange is doing a U Turn and all affected customers need to do is ring/do – blah blah blah etc. I belong to another web site whose forums are regularly quoted by the media so I do find it all a little strange that this informative forum is not getting similar treatment.

    For what its worth I totally agree.

    There are so many things wrong on so many levels and I would have thought any investigative journalist would see an opportunity here!

    1) EE handed the 4G roll-out ahead of the 4G auction with no competition from its competitors
    2) Almost simultaneous withdrawal of 'Free for life BB'
    3) The partial U-Turn brought about by those with the loudest voices - but not across the board.
    4) The regulators - Ofcom - seemingly frozen by 'It's a Business Decision - apparent inability to direct - and unable to release information and covered by the rules set down by Parliament.
    5) CISAS unable to adjudicate due to Business decision - which apparently covers mis-selling too.
    6) Where does consumer protection come in? - all being swept under the carpet
    7) Everyone of the above seemingly missing the point - ie: T&C's may well cover 'withdrawing an offer' - but - not mid contract!
