Orange 'Free' Broadband

Decided it best to start a new account on hear with a new name before posting which proved a hassle off a phone.
I have been watching this forum for some time while waiting for the dreaded letter.....which arrived on Tuesday, rang Ofcom then executive office that evening as soon as I got in from work and now awaiting the phone call from special team (which I believe I should have got within 48 hours?). rang executive office again last night to chase up phone call an was told to be patient there dealing with it case by case.
after looking at my mobile tariff to see what I use I also decided to rang cs this morning to see if I could lower my mobile tariff current £36pm. (I don't even use half the min that are included) but was told I can't till I'm half way in to my 24 month contract which was rather disappointing. may also request info on this from executive team.
should i ring the special team or just await there call
Yes - I would ring - you have nothing to lose !

As alreadt stated - Orange admit they made a mistake in disconnecting.
What Orange say on the phone and what they do are two completley different things.
I am still awaiting written confirmation that my broadband will continue until the end of my mobile contract.
I am curious Nobby was the compensation you achieved directly credited to your orange account resulting in direct debits not being taken and secondly have you received written confirmation stating the continuation of your free broadband.0 -

He said these words divide & conquer.
He said it would be best for everyone to take them to court as a class action
Divide and Conquer is most definitely the tactics being used - if being moral, legal and fair - they would make an announcement.
We Have made a mistake and are sorry - free BB will run concurrently with ALL mobile contracts until contract end - at which point it will be withdrawn.0 -
As has already been pointed out to you by others- Orange have admitted they disconnected the broadband in error - it was a mistake !
Hence me saying that I think they will lose if it came to court - which it will not as they are clearly wrong in the case of saying `unless you move your landline to Orange your broadband service will be disconnected on ......`
They would not have agreed to continue my bb service until Jan 2014 after giving me 3 cut off dates in writing ( all different ) and a £250 `gesture of goodwill` if they thought they were in the right would they ???
Nobby.
I would be delighted if the poster took on Orange for consequential loss of earnings and won. However I don't see it happening ... as far as I know EVERY consumer grade ISP has get-out clauses whereby service is not guaranteed (for WHATEVER reason), and all they are liable for is the cost of the loss of service. Consequential losses are excluded.
But we can bat this backward and forwards forever - I'm not going to change my opinion (for that is what it is, as is yours), and I suspect you won't change yours, so I suggest we let this side discussion drop.

Am I bound by all the terms and conditions in a company’s standard contract?
Not necessarily. Just because a term is included does not automatically mean that the company will be able to rely on it. Some terms may be challenged on the grounds that they are ‘unfair’. There are many types of term that may be held to be unfair in consumer contracts, but the scope for unfairness in business contracts is considerably less.
ORANGE T & C ARE NOT WORTH THE PAPER THEY ARE WRITTEN ON.:DSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Paid by cheque and yes I have it all in writing - all three offers made and date to which free bb will continue.SMA 4000TL Inverter, 17 REC 235PE Panels, South facing, roof angle \ `ish, 3995 watt system.Installed Nov 2011.0 -
LIPSERVICE IS WHAT THE NEW "EE" COMPANY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED - FROM WHERE I'M STANDING THATS ALL WE HAVE BEEN GETTING.
Lipservice is an idiom meaning 'giving approval or support insincerely' :mad:0 -

I am happy to let it drop as you put it but what I am not happy to do is leave others here with the view that they should not take Orange on with regard to this whole issue.
Not everyone is as confident as others and they may be put off by `legal jargon` and fear that they stand no chance against a large company like Orange.
They may think that a business must be in the right if they are able to send out letters threatening disconnection of service unless certain conditions are met.
This whole thread is full of opinions - some have proved to be less valid than others when it comes to helping others here. That - helping others and ourselves - is what this thread is all about, I would not deliberately try to give others `false hope` but I feel also it is not helpful to say that there is no chance of any recourse against Orange legally if an individuals service is mistakenly disconnected.
It has been proved here on more than one occasion that when push comes to shove Orange are `backing down` as they clearly have made a mistake on the `mis-selling` that has taken place over free for life bb. I see no reason to believe they will not continue to do so.
It still baffles me how they can continue to try to deal with this on a case by case basis, but I for one ( and I know there are many others here ) will continue to help as constructively as I can anyone who needs advice from those of us who have already taken on Orange, been through it and `won`.
Please lets try to be positive as we are in the right here and Orange are not.
