I know quite a few people who took out cheap Talk (carphone warehouse) deals because they used Vodafone's masts, but have found the signal very poor. Why would someone like Orange allow Virgin to way undercut them using the same signal?
Virgin I guess would buy a wholesale package type deal from EE, it’s up to them what profit or even loss they run that at. Bit like someone somewhere buying wholesale broadband from BT then selling it to us.0 -
JessG One2One launched Virgin in a 50/50 venture until Virgin bought the other 50% inhouse, Mercury one2one got bought by German landline incumbent Deuche Telecom and T(elecom)-Mobile UK was born....
Orange & T-Mobile merged & Virgin has access to Orange, parent company Everything Everywhere will launch 4G as EE - Virgin & other resellers will not have access to 4G to resell as of yet....if ever.....SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Nobby1963 - as from their new price guide dated 19 September 2012, 0800 calls are not included in any call package and there is now a 12.5p connection charge per call.
Thank you for showing the old prices from March 2012, very useful to compare and see the increased charges that now apply to new customers.
Sorry Fitz I must be cracking up !
I had my months mixed up - don`t ask - yes I see the charges are there for 0800 etc.
More ammunition for those that are considering the move.
Nobby.SMA 4000TL Inverter, 17 REC 235PE Panels, South facing, roof angle \ `ish, 3995 watt system.Installed Nov 2011.0 -
To charge for an 0800 number is disgusting.... It has been happening for years on mobiles. Businesses use 0800 numbers to take the cost away from the individual calling..... NOT for businesses to double up and charge both people.
This reminds me of being in America when both caller and recipient would use up their minutes during a call.0 -

...
Because they have no choice in the matter.0 -
Anyway I at the end of my tether - and have told Orange I am arranging BB elsewhere, and also getting an alternative mobile contract, and I will be cancelling my Direct Debit to them - they can chase me for money!
Having spoke to a legal adviser (free legal advice on home insurance) I have been advised to ask Orange for a copy of my original contract where it says they can remove the free broadband, and also a full copy of any T&Cs showing either my signature or where my attention has been drawn to this, and a transcript of the phone call where I renewed the mobile contract a few months ago when they promised free broadband for the duration.
I will ask Orange for these today, but if anyone has any comments or is one step ahead, please let me know. I am happy to let Orange take me to court for me cancelling my end of the contract, but any supporting documentation would be useful.
Copies of T's & C's are on the Orange website,(links way back in the early days of this thread), and there is also a link to an excellent picture on Facebook of the original Orange flyer offering FREE broadband FOR LIFE.

My latest email from Ofcom contained the following;
"Orange has advised us that since the initial promotion, free broadband has not been actively promoted when mobile contracts have been renewed. If we see evidence to the contrary, we will raise this with Orange for further discussion."
To all on this forum who can swear blind that since the initial offer that they were promised the Free Broadband when they came to renew their contracts over the last six years, can you please send an email to
OCCtelecoms@ofcom.org.uk
FAO Sandra Sutton,
stating that you were told the FBB continued contrary to Orange's blatant lie to Ofcom.
Please fell free to quote my Ofcom ref 1-217098157
I got the above after badgering them as to why they were simply taking Orange at their word, when forum after forum contains statements to the contrary.
Lets give them the evidence they need.
Please PM me when you do, (a simple done it will do J ) as I shall be in contact with her asking if they NOW have enough evidence to believe the folk they're meant to be protecting.
Some idea of the number of emails they will have received will definitely strengthen the case.
If PM’s ain’t your thing then please post on the forum.
Something simple on the lines of ….
"It has come to my attention that Ofcom are seeking information and evidence that counters Orange’s statement to Ofcom, whereby they deny actively promoting Free Broadband when it came to renewal of mobile contracts after the initial offering.
I can state that this is not the case and when I came to renew in dd/mm/yy.(approx date will do.)
I was categorically assured that I would be keeping the Free Broadband.
The Free Broadband is the only reason I stayed with Orange and did not seek a more competitive mobile deal. It was what induced me into continuing the mobile contract.”0 -
Also copy the email to graham.howell@ofcom.org.uk head of complaints against Ofcom.
Copy to your English/Welsh/Scots/N Irish team of Ofcom:

That's three emails to Ofcom confirmed to me already, hopefully the morning will bring a nice flurry of indignation. Time for bed said Zeberdee :rotfl:0
