...I cannot really see what the problem is myself. If she receives £5000 less say £3000 for expenses, she will have made £2000. As that is below the limit of £6000 I wouldn't be bothered telling anybody!...

You're confusing income with capital. Be advised that the DWP know the difference.
  • OP you might be better off leaving the thread now to run its course. You've got all the answers you need and if you haven't you know where to go for them. Keep replying to posts your only digging yourself more into it. Just take a deep breath and walk away.

no one has put the poster down or tried to put them down, but come on,asking on a benefit forum where they state they claim benefits, asking whether they have to inform the dwp is a bit ripe.these dogs cost around 1200 a throw,if they have a few pups thats quite a tidy sum,imo making a few bucks on the side is not that at all its quite a large sum.

If you read my first post you will see that I have never mentioned ANYTHING about making money on the SIDE I have said all along that I want to be honest and above board with the DWP not make undisclosed extra income. My question was the EFFECT on my benefits not whether I should disclose it or not. Disclosure has never been an issue. So please refrain from making me out to be something I am not.

no one called her a liar, but dont make out the op knows nothing, most people would know to phone the dwp.it might not be a form of employment, but it is an INCOME!

Hence the question in the first place as to what the effects on my benefits would be. And now I HAVE phoned the DWP and HMRC for the answer to my question as noted earlier up on the thread.

I could understand the criticism if I had been talking about breeding and committing benefit fraud by not disclosing income received but as I made it quite clear this was not the case as in I would disclose it but wanted to know EFFECT on my benefits I really cannot understand the grief I have got from asking a simple question. I rang the DWP and HMRC and they themselves did not give me any grief, they simply told me the FACTS (as noted above). This is supposed to be a forum on FACTS NOT POLICY; obviously this is far from the case.

Because they are people with nothing better to do than slate people on forums. They also don't like it if someone gets a bit ahead or finds a way to make money that they haven't got. They presume to know you and what your thinking.

Last week I got told on a thread that I hadn't done enough in a certain situation. I knew I'd done a lot more than anyone else would have done. But they wanted to slate me.

Close this board down then as surely that's the case for anyone else wanting benefit advice. That's what it's here for.

When I initially posted the question it was night time and weekend. The DWP was shut so until I could get hold of them I used this site which is what it is meant to be for. Who on earth do you think you are??
