Benefits and dog breeding

I have, since I started this thread, found out the information I was initially asking for (effect on benefits etc IF I bred my dog one litter in the future). This is all I wanted to know.
These discussions about the ethics involved in breeding are all very entertaining but put simply, it is absolutely nothing to do with the initial question which simply asked for the FACTS, not OPINIONS.
You are all of couse entitled to your various opinions but the point is moot because it is my decision whether I do or do not breed and whether you deem this right or wrong it is nothing to do with you how I live my life and the choices I make. We can argue the various points raised until the cows come home but I will make my own choice.Never judge a book by its cover :beer:0 -
I would like to thank peeps for all the information provided in this thread on breeding dogs. Whilst the OP did not ask for or appreciate the knowledge of others, there will be others reading here and maybe, just maybe they will reconsider dog breeding as a way to make a quick buck. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

If you are on benefits and there's a chance you can make some money of your own you CANNOT ask advice on this forum, you will not get the simple advice you are looking for but (as you have found out) will get jumped on by sarcastic posters who will try and put you down any way they can.
They will try and make out they are better than you, that they know more than you, test you to see if you know what you are talking about, it usually ends up in you being a scrounging, council house dwelling scum bag who is just after making a quick buck on the side, then they will rifle through your old posts to see what dirt they can dig up.
I suggest you just phone the relevant authorities (if you haven't done so already) and ask their advice, no one on this forum can really tell you, they can guess, they can ramble on about how wrong it is to breed your dog, but they cannot give you the answer to your question because, unless they work for the DWP, they just don't know.
If you want to breed your dog then it's your choice entirely.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -
no one has put the poster down or tried to put them down, but come on,asking on a benefit forum where they state they claim benefits, asking whether they have to inform the dwp is a bit ripe.these dogs cost around 1200 a throw,if they have a few pups thats quite a tidy sum,imo making a few bucks on the side is not that at all its quite a large sum. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

And all she wanted to know is should she inform the DWP if she decides to breed and sell the pups, it's not a form of employment, it's not a regular occurrence, if she sell 5 pups at over £1000 each then of course she should inform them and I think she knows that now.
She has been put down, she has been asked questions about breeding that she knows and has given the answers to yet she is still asked the same questions as if some are trying to make her look stupid and unknowledable, she has told someone she was given a price, by a vet, on certain things yet she was told this is untrue and not the right cost, HOW do they know, unless they have asked the same vet the poster did, they made her out to be a liar.
A simple answer to a simple question cannot be given on this forum.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -

I cannot really see what the problem is myself. If she receives £5000 less say £3000 for expenses, she will have made £2000. As that is below the limit of £6000 I wouldn't be bothered telling anybody!
Much the same as presents of money from relatives. Dad gave me a quite a few thousand years ago whilst I was on a means tested benefit. It was spent on what is was given for - a holiday for us and his grandchildren!
Did I tell the DWP - No! It was a present.
Same way when I used to give my grown up children presents.
What about boot fairs - we used to sell our own stuff that I used to buy an auctions. Not every week maybe three times a year.
One was a bicycle cost £5 sold for £250
Wallclock cost £12 sold for £565
Parafin table lamp cost £28 sold £325
Should I have told the DWP?Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0 -
