Oh darling :grouphug:
I think men sometimes don't understand the significance of what they say and how much we will take it to heart. If you can bear to then just freshen up and tell him he's upset you... if not, then head out and make the best of the situation, or take some chocolate, a good book and a glass of wine to bed. I know it's easy for me to say, but I really do feel for you, please don't be too hard on yourself.0 -
We have decided to make an appointment with the GP about my weight and depression, hopefully it will help. While I'm there I'm going to see if they can schedule me to have a smear, and see if they can test me for gluten sensitivity and type 2 diabetes. Might also speak to them about getting a scan to see if there are any cysts anywhere. Since it is mostly going to be about my weight (I'm in the 280's and I'm 5 ft 3 inches), so is there anything I should take with me? I'll have my phone, so my ff stuff will be with me, but should I make out a list of goals to prove to them that I'm not just trying to waste their time? Anything else I should do?
Can you tell that I freak out whenever I need to visit a doctor? I'm still not used to the fact that I can go to the doctor. I couldn't even visit the doctor in the states because I had no insurance and wasn't working enough to be able to afford an office visit (standard charge was $120, approx £80-90, without any tests).
Thanks in advance.
Please tell me to shut up if I'm being painfully obvious Mrs TM, but going to the GP isn't the same as a doctor's visit in the States. We have a friend who moved over quite recently and she was shocked by how short the appointment was, and that they didn't routinely offer her a full physical. If you have a few issues to discuss then it's best to arrange a double appointment otherwise you may be disappointed... most appointments only last less than 10 minutes. Of course you may already know all this, in which case I'm sorry... but I don't want you to be annoyed / upset. I love the NHS, am very proud of it and work in it... I think it's a fabulous system. However, despite this, we're not able to allocate the same amount of time as some other systems which demand higher payments0 -
I think some practices say you can only have 'two problems' to discuss because of appt timings. So I'd concentrate on 2-3 most important things. The smear test just ring up & make a seperate appt yourself, if you ask to be tested for something & they agree you will more than likely have to go back to get that Done.So just prepare for a few, but short appts!0

I agree Amy, our GP will only deal with one issue at a time so you do sometimes have to make multiple appointments if you have a few different things you need to talk to them about. I think it's because they allocate 10 minutes per patient so if everyone who went had various things they wanted to talk about then obviously they would have massive delays in seeing peopleNew House... Code next time that happens don't cry away from your DH let him know how much he's upset you. Men can be total idiots sometimes!0

Code - Hope your feeling better this morning.
My DH was a prat last night 2, he drunk an entire bottle of jack daniels and was SO drunk. My cough made my asthma bad and I was really wheezing and scared and he passed out on the sofa. I got my own back by waking him up early...but now he's going to suffer all day and its rare we get a Saturday together, so I was hoping for a nice day together - men!0 -

I know, I've visited the GP before. Honestly, it's nearly exactly the same at the doctor I had in the states. 10-15 minutes face time, with a 45 minute wait minimum to see the doctor, even with an appointment.0
