Congrats Nessie - another one to add to the january BFP - a thon! How many days late were you?

The last cycle had a luteal phase of 11 days - so i would be 16DPO now, started testing at 11DPO and was getting faint lines - they got darker everyday - DH still didn't really get that it was true - so brought a digi to spell it out!

Told my mum yesterday (wouldn't be able to keep it from her!) she screamed & cried - i'm pretty sure all her neighbours know now!!!

Guys, I just did a digi and got a positive result, but OMG am I racked with guilt, after getting a negative last week I presumed I was out for the month and drank a lot of booze on Friday and last night, as I am diabetic I was also not as good with my blood sugar control as I should have been had I known I was still in with a chance. Terrified now that I'll miscarry - can anyone tell me how long it is after ovulation that the embryo is tapped in to the mother's blood supply?

I'm in shock and don't believe it after my negative last week. Pics to follow. Just goes to show that beans can be shy esp as I did a sensitive test last week at 12 dpo and now at 16 dpo it's showing a positive!

You can't worry about it now. My OH is also a Type 1 Diabetic so has the same worries about the levels.

Now you have a positive, just keep doing the best you can :)

    Oh and congratulations :T:j

Thanks. I found something yesterday that said its only from day 17 post conception that things start to affect the embryo. I had a sleeping tablet last week as well, after I thought I was not pregnant, and later found out these are really bad but all that was about 11, 12 dpo so hopefully it's all just a ball of cells at that point and doesn't get affected by anything.
At least I know the score diabetes wise from my previous pregnancy and have got my blood sugars right down now, being very careful!
My mum also had diabetes and in those days they couldn't even test themselves, she went through 3 pregnancies without a hitch so that just goes to show that maybe its not as bad as they say. She says she hopes I've inherited her hardiness as well as the diabetes!

So by that time you could well be being sick etc. Whereas we are peeing on the sticks well in advance of anything really starting! Plus, things we then could look back on and think were a symptom could just be pure coincidence! Its also very easy to say you 'felt' pregnant or weird or whatever, but forget about the x other months you said you felt like that too and werent pregnant!

So although Im sure some of us definitely do get signs or whatever, I really need to just try not to think about stuff like that so much in the 2ww!

So wise, so true! :T I've given up on telling myself I *feel* PG now, it's never anything other than PMT/a bug/me being a crazy cow! ;)

Hope you're feeling more :) than :( today Tink. Your hearts are so pretty! :)

I was a horrible person yesterday. :o My friend and her DH are TTC and I know that they're having problems as she has some issues with big cycsts on her ovary but they started TTC about 10/11 months after we did. We had them round for lunch yesterday and normally if we're going to each other's houses we'll take the bus so we can all have a drink but they said they'd drive. The first thing that popped into my head was that she's PG which is why she's driving as she'll want the excuse to not drink and got myself so worked up and upset that yet another couple had skipped the queue... then they arrived and it was her DH driving as he had to get up early and she drank wine all afternoon... I was so relieved but then felt so terrible for being so relieved! :o

Birdie you're not a horrible person, that's a totally natural reaction, I was the same when my friend cancelled on a party before xmas saying she wasn't drinking - turned out she was pg but she miscarried - I felt bad for her after. We can't help our initial reaction to things though, it's like an automatic response. your day will come, hang in there.

Eek eek, 2 x TLPs this morning. Now doubting myself n thinking they might be evaps. Am 11 dpo which is when I got my TLP last time. It doesn't show up as well on a pic in real life and hubby is at work so noone to confirm if I am bonkers or not.. Will do another test tomorrow and a digi if there is still a line.

If I ever have a daughter I will do my utmost to make sure she doesn't go on the pill- seeing as there's only a 25% (or thereabouts) chance of getting pregnant on any one cycle she can learn to use a sodding condom!

I totally blame the pill for masking my pcos/ endometriosis for the 7 years I was on it- despite the fact that I kept going to the doctors with 'classic' symptoms and being fobbed off with different types of sodding pill. If I can't get pregnant because of them and the pill masked it I'll go batsh*t crazy!

Disclaimer: poster may already be batsh*t crazy

    Congrats to the BFPs :T

I think the problem is the drs. The pill can be used to treat things hence why it can also mask things the problem is that the dr should have listened to your concerns and done tests!

For me the pill was a life saver because it got rid of my painful & heavy periods. Plus I have had a condom break on me before.

However I get where you're coming from & I think if you have a daughter who has any problems like you did, don't let her come away from the drs without a solution!! It's amazing how many of us have had problems in that respect. Let alone some drs even understand a basic menstrual cycle!

As my periods have been irregular for the last couple of months I have no idea when I ovulate. My last cycle I started opks on cd15 as that was when they arrived and this cycle lasted 25 days. I thought I got a postitive opk on cd21 which I cant have if my cycle was only 25 days!

Im on CD 11 today. I don't think my last post was clear, sorry. I finished my period on cd6 and then two days after that I have been spotting.

Ah I see. So maybe you are ovulating now then if you've had a positive opk.

It depends on what's in it obviously but a certain brand of sleeping tablets in the USA is actually prescribed for helping with morning sickness. Try not to worry its early days so I don't think anything you've done would have an effect.

I think it'd be better for women in general if we could book to see gynaes like we book GPs rather than have to get referred through a hospital. We should see a gynae to get the pill in the first place as they're much more likely to pick up on PCOS symptoms etc and they know what they're talking about. But then, that'll be more expensive so if it's going to save money in general what's the harm in screwing up a *few* women's bodies by failing to identify issues before they find out they're going to struggle conceiving?!
