I suppose they can't have a detailed knowledge about everything body related. What happened then Elsie?

Well I'm back home again. Managed to meet up with my donor once a day for 3 days, with OV being right on the middle day. Couldn't have been more perfect I think :D

So Can I be updated to 1DPO today please?

Thank you- it's not raining on my parade. I feel lucky that I am ovulating at all! I don't hold out any hope at all when I visit the docs! Just hoping that they may carry out more tests. I only had routine ones done last time which came back that 'everything looked normal for someone of my age' (I'm 31 btw)

Well, if the bloods you had done show you are ovulating, then that's a really good thing! I have a 27-29 day cycle and ovulate on CD18-20 usually. It has been later than this (was CD21 for about 4 cycles). Leaves me with an LP of 7-9 days.
Because I have a 'standard' cycles, my bloods (done on CD21) showed I had abnormally low progesterone and I was referred to the hospital after that. I did try to explain to the GP that I knew what the results would show as I hadn't yet ovulated that cycle but she just kept repeating "if you have a 28 day cycles...you ovulate on day 14"...blah blah blah.

When I went through all that with the consultant at my first appointment, she told me that she thought I wasn't ovulating and that LP length didn't matter in any way. When I told her that I was detecting an LH surge and that I could identify a temp rise every cycle.....she told me that a rise in temp didn't confirm ovulation as it could be affected by other things. So..yeah...OH had to have 2 SA's, I had to have an HSG...and now I am waiting for my appointment to be given clomid after my last one was cancelled :(
I have a detailed and complex obstetric history though and when I first got referred to the hospital my son was only 7 months old.

How long have you been trying? It seems to vary so much from region to region, but if it's less a minimum of 12 months it is highly unlikely they will do anything else, especially if the bloods you had done came back with good results. I really hope that isn't the case - I know more about my cycle than any doctor ever will but unfortunately they are the only ones who can help me!! Frustration central! :rotfl:

Thank you so much for this. I haven't had 21 day bloods yet...should I ask for them to be done? I presume they will come back negative as I haven't been ovulating until CD25/26. The main purpose of the visit will be to find out what they tested me for last time...I asked the nurse who was rather vague!

We've been trying since April but I realise now that we may not have got it right until a few months ago. I am getting a LH surge with a temp drop, followed by raised temperatures.

  • But -if it helps with positive thoughts, I got my BFP with DD a few days before a scheduled appointment with my gp to discuss TTC problems. Fate has a funny way of playing tricks with us x

They won't do your bloods on CD21 if your cycles are 35/36 days. They'll do it at around CD28 or 29 I would imagine. They 'assume your LP is 14 days, so the test is supposed to be done at 7dpo.

Finding out what they tested you for last time sounds like a plan! Although, when in your cycle did they do it? Was it a blood test? I can't think how else they would have confirmed you were ovulating if it wasn't the CD21 test (that's only the 'street' for it...it's not always done on CD21)

If you've only been properly 'trying' for a few months, they almost certainly won't do anything. Worth a shot though, and mention that you've been trying since April (you don't have to mention the bit about only getting it right for the last 2 months!).

I also get the LH surge and temp rise....but apparently I'm not ovulating :o Who knows, maybe the specialist is right after all and that's why I can't get pregnant!

    Good luck!!!
