My oh has ibs as he was born with problems and was damaged during ops. He hates me telling people but he uses lopramide hydrochloride the main ingredient in imodium and he normallly has to take 5 - 10 tablets in any situation and the pain he gets means he screams at anyone who gets in his way0

I don't think I'm pushy enough at GP appointments - I usually just sit there and nod and accept what they tell me... and pretend I'm totally fine about not being pregnant yet...
If there's been one 'benefit' of endometriosis for me it was that it made me realise you have to push to get what you want, healthcare wise. Not always of course, and some people will have amazing GPs that can't do enough to help. But often, you have to know what you want, know where you want to go/who you want to be treated by and you have to ask for it.
I can't count the number of times I came out of a dr's appt in tears, really p'ed off at myself for not saying all the things I wanted to. I'm sure we're all confident and articulate at work etc. but it's like the sight of a dr takes our voice away.
Even something really simple like taking a list of your questions with you can really help.0 -
Birdie, tempting fate really does work:D
Good luck losing the weight, even though I know it'll all come back as soon as you are pg:p
niknok, superdrug ones are the best imho:cool:
atton, (((hugs))), try to get pg out of your mind, otherwise it'll make you crazy:o0 -

Thanks tealover - it's so true, I like to think I'm very confident and articulate at work, but it's like I turn into a mute child at a GP appointment! I did take a list of questions, but once she'd said we have to wait two years for a referral I felt like all the questions were irrelevant (the thing I'm really kicking myself for is for not asking 'is the wait two years, even with a known problem?').
Speaking of the list of questions.. DH and I were having a laugh about it all last night and came up with an initial list of questions:
1. What is wrong with me?
2. Why is this appointment so early (7.30am...)
3. Would it be really naughty to steal a baby?
4. Do they HAVE to call it a wand? :rotfl:
As I said, you have to laugh sometimes...0 -
Our list of questions include:
1. if we only need 1 sperm, why is 1.1 million a low sperm count?
2. are babies available on ebay?0 -
atton - ((hugs)). As QQ said, try not to think about pregnancy all the time, you really will drive yourself mad! All the 'symptoms' you are having might just be pre-AF, and the mind can be very powerful in making you think you might be pregnant. It's hard work, but if you can focus on other things it might be easier for you. How about putting all your energy/thoughts into the uni course for now?
I know you've mentioned before that you think your OH might have an issue, so why not wait until you've had those tests done and know the results.
It's all much easier said than done, of course! Sending big ((hugs))0 -

Good point. I should have asked about ebay - I'm more than willing to pay, so stealing doesn't have to be the only option.
MUST DO SOME WORK. If I post on here again in the next two hours I need a wagging finger.... over and out...0 -
Thank you for the advice. Its difficult when all you see is pregnant ladies all the time.

Tealover, re metformin, it will get better. I don't even notice any side effects anymore. Didn't do after the first couple of months, definitely, maybe sooner. Isae someone else on here (can't remember who) was struggling with the side effects so they went back to the gp and got time-release capsules prescribed instead and that seemed to help. You could try that?
Mrsj, sorry to hear ability the confirmed pcos. 3 things: the suggestion about verging referred to a gynae its a good one - I did that and they put me on metformin and told me when to come back regarding fertility; make sure that if you do go to get private help it doesn't affect your ability to get NHS help next year - some PCTs are funny about it; they wouldn't (highly unlikely at any rate) just prescribe clomid without doing the tests on you and dh - there are risks with clomid, and there's no point giving you those risks if there are other issues too. Just be prepared for thatCourse, if you do have tests privately, they'll happen much quicker
though the NHS would probably repeat them if you did go back to them
