Good evening Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:
Had a nice quiet day here so not much to report. DF was out at various appointments which allowed us to relax and go at our own pace.
Yesterday DF took CD for such a long walk that she just lay on the patio for hours when they got back - didn't even come inside for a drink of water, or to say hello to me.
This morning she'd found some of her bounce again which was reassuring, but a stroll around the garden seemed sufficient exercise for her today. It was more like exploring a jungle down at the bottom where the Oldies' graves are; a riot of flowers, thistles and tricksy vines to trip over, and delicate multi-coloured butterflies dancing in the air.
..Took us a while to get back up because the path is now so overgrown - have suggested to DF that hacking back the foliage would be a better use of his pent-up energy than walking the legs off poor ol' CD.. :cool:0 -

Aww, thank you very much Granny - but it was you who spotted the key; all I did was recognise it and give it a little jiggle in the lock for you, and maybe a squirt of virtual WD40 in the form of that link.
I do hope very much that the information you find behind that previously locked barrier makes it easier for you to understand your DH, and communicate with him in ways he can relate to.0 -
Hey Robin lets hope you can channel DF energy to growing or gardening at the least otherwise poor CD won't have any paws left!

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Who would have thought it? Daft Dogs and Robin going out for a meal, twice in one week (can't remember the last time that happened!).
It turned out that the restaurant we were going to, had moved since the last time any of our party had been there. A local chap advised us to park and walk along the sea-front - a pedestrian zone - which ended up being a four mile round trip! I wouldn't have managed but for CD's assistance and encouragement; even though she's not 100% at her best, she can still pull me along with ease, bless her.
It was a very jolly evening, though went on rather too late for junior members and those who remained sober (penalty of owning a seven seater vehicle is that Muggins is always a designated driver; never mind ).
Today is a grey, cold day; we are walking through cloud. It is enough excuse to keep me indoors, looking forward to lighting the stove later.
DF is off visiting friends so Daft Dogs and I are just relaxing - don't think they'll mind missing their formal walk today (took them to the beach yesterday before the trek to the restaurant, so altogether we must have walked well over ten miles - much further than usual of late**).Hey Robin lets hope you can channel DF energy to growing or gardening at the least otherwise poor CD won't have any paws left!
Will do - have some beans and peas waiting for a bed to be prepared.
**ETA: Should point out that all this was easy walking on nice flat pavement or sand, whereas the expedition that exhausted CD so much was a trek up, down, further down, round and back up a mountain (-oh yes, and DF is about twice my size)!0 -
Hello Diary, :hello:
Dot please can I borrow your new Magic Tam (with integral ginger locks)? ..Need something to shake up the ol' grey cells, while there's still time to stop m' house of cards tumbling down.
DF has a new nickname; Roger. As in Lodger (though definitely without what are referred to as extra benefits ):
Free food and housing, a listening ear and watchful eye is all he is getting - although beyond the short term that may turn out to be too much for my own health (emotional, physical and financial).
This morning Roger left a cup of tea by my bed - stone cold when I awoke - and has vanished. Unless he's been telling porkies, he's gone to visit a woman he met in hospital of whom he has romantic hopes - but it's a 250 mile round trip (he's not supposed to be driving at all yet. Hmm, mea culpa for not objecting to him driving himself locally to visit friends - which has been fine but doesn't involve main roads).
I was strongly against his plan to visit the other patient so soon, but Roger has ignored my objections. This is after returning to the Nest well after midnight last night - without letting me know that he'd be so late - and his 'phone was switched off when I tried to call him. He was surprised to find no tasty plate of food awaiting his arrival (I'd taken advantage of Roger's absence at dinner time to make it a fast day, after the previous night's feast - which was possibly a bad idea; see below).
It's par for the course that Roger will be sneaky in the early days, but I did think he is intelligent enough to think twice and take note of the opinions of those who are prepared to help him.
At the moment I have absolutely no idea what to say to him when he returns.
Assuming that Roger does come back tonight. The boxes of pills are still here; no idea whether he took them this morning or is carrying a supply for today.
Was so cross that I succumbed to the allure of a chocolate treat which has been languishing in the fridge for ages; a R!tter Sport bar - ate the b!oody lot for breakfast!
That will muck up My Fitness Pal's calculations for today! Interestingly, it keeps saying that am not eating enough calories and may have put my body into starvation mode, making it harder to lose weight. Might have to give up the feast/fast pattern of food intake..
Do not expect any major progress in the garden today, as Roger isn't here to do the strenuous labour.
Yesterday during a brief foray outside, I concocted a new bench for the seedlings still in pots - must get some fresh air every day.
Wanted the smallest plants off the ground as too many have been munched by an increasing [STRIKE]gathering[/STRIKE] slime of snails: Collected all I could find, lurking beneath seed trays and in dark corners; gifted them to our resident song-thrush, who is now repaying me with his song.
A further complication has surfaced in the land-lording dilemma; it's destroyed the solution I'd sorted out. No idea what to do now - need PC to talk this through with and make a new decision!
Oh yes, and I've lost the gizmo for accessing the LLording a/c on-line - that will cause problems if it doesn't turn up soon!
Dear dear; what a lot of less than happy smilies in this post - well, the only one who can change those feelings and circumstances had better shake herself off and get on with it!0 -
Sorry DF is causing you worry. I hope you can still somewhat take advantage of the peace and quiet his disappearing act has granted you.
I also hope you enjoyed every last pick of the chocolate bar. you deserved it!! Xx

Hum, well I think you need to have some RULES for Roger the Lodger. And my dear, why on earth is he not buying all the household food at the very least? He is earning and so does need to contribute to life in general.
Sorry the LL issue is raising a head again ..... I have an ear if helpful?Start info Dec11
