Hello dear Clever Dog it sounds as though you are feeling a bit better today. The photo's of your insides won't hurt my dear so don't worry your pretty little head about them x

You are such a clever girl training mistress and I hope you get your wish for Chicken instead of balls. I have to say chicken sounds much nicer to me.

I wonder what word Mistress called you x

Hiya CD glad you are feeling well enough to chat to us in the black box. I am please Mistress is able to relax a bit more with only you and FD to feed, must have been quite a strain to keep her on the straight and narrow with those nasty balls as sustenance.

In fairness to Mistress you have been eating them for a while now and learning is slow. Doglet went through a similar process with me. We know have an understanding

You have nothing to worry about with pictures. You won't feel a thing and it will help the V.E.T and Mistress to make sure you are well and long term well too.

Now go get the chicken and give Mistress a lick and cuddle from us.

Do come back, CD, and tell us what Mistress called you:rotfl:

You and FD be good for Mistress now, she is very tired from looking after the big man. Mistresses friends in the box are right, the camera won't hurt and the DV will make you all better:j
  • Hey CD, good to have you in the box. As everyone else has said, the photos won't be a problem.

I'm sure mistress will keep rewarding you with chicken if you keep her sane! It's been very difficult for her with the big man around.

Love and ear rubs to you and fatty Xx

PS, I'm cleverer (or perhaps have better eye sight! :rotfl:) than the others! I know mistress called you bedraggled :D

Good morning Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:

Daft Dogs and I woke up to sunshine, blue skies and a stiff breeze today. Having slept for most of the time since getting home from the city, am delighted to report I'm feeling human again. :)
Shall make the most of it, as the inevitable result of spending hours locked in an air-conditioned room, queueing with thirty sick people and their families will not take many days to arrive - despite knocking back the immune-system-boosting gloop.

Am quite glad Vet has summoned CD today while I'm capable of driving (the sample we dropped in to the clinic the other day was normal). She's not insured any more, as we gave it up when the premium for all four dogs topped £100pcm. PC did put that amount into a savings account for a while, but it's now been absorbed into the DDuties fund.
Remembering how much the same tests cost for PC, I've shifted 1K into my local account - would hate it if there was a delay in diagnosis because I couldn't pay..

There's something you don't know about CD: Five and a half years ago she suddenly grew three new nipples - it was breast cancer. Dear Vet whipped out all CD's girly bits within days (PC often jokingly complained that she got much faster and better treatment than he did! :rotfl:).
Until now, CD's annual check-ups revealed no active disease, but last week's blood test showed elevated tumour markers. :(
So maybe DF did us a favour by taking Daft Dogs into that poison field, as CD's next regular check-up is still six months away? :o

DS3 went to visit DF yesterday; all seems to be going as well as can be hoped there. :) I've said I'll get him some M&S 'jamas on the way to the Vet's - turns out DF normally sleeps in the buff and the hospital don't have any in his size! (As M&S is a UK shop, am hoping they stock clothes for taller men).

I think society's attitude to MH is based on fear that it is contagious by association, that's the only way I can see how the broken-leg analogy works (i.e. broken legs aren't contagious).

I hadn't thought of that, Satchmo, but you could be right. I was focussing on the difference between visible and invisible illnesses. It's also very hard for anyone to know how to react when someone who previously behaved 'normally' suddenly starts shouting:
"I am God - listen to me!"
..So there we already have three reasons why MH problems are more isolating than any other disease.

Anyway, dear friend, you must ensure you are safe, and that you remember that your own health will suffer due to exhaustion. For what it's worth, I think you need another person in situ full time if DF is to stay. I am very concerned that you aren't having any rest and poor quality sleep. I am glad, for your physical sake, that the kittens are now elsewhere.

I'm also very relieved the kittens have gone elsewhere, and you're right again, I can't really cope alone with DF while his equilibrium is lost. Alternative Lass has said DF can spend some time with her [assuming the rest with me] when he's discharged.
I'll worry about it next week - need to try and get CD sorted out first.

The paperwork still looms of course as I've not yet taken it to the other lawyer, and there's also a landlording problem which is going to go critical in the next couple of weeks (requiring my presence).
Oh yes and Martin has reminded us about the new ISAs - really need to do as much as possible to maximise income now that I'm looking at a large bill from Vet (don't begrudge it at all - at least it won't be going on a CC this time ;)).

Thank you to everyone who has posted - yet again I've run out of time to reply to you all, as we need to get moving here. Have promised CD another bucket of chicken and a walk on the beach before her appointment. :)
  • Hope it went well today Robin. I've got everything crossed for CD Xx

Hello Diary and dear Friends, :hello:
Hope it went well today Robin. I've got everything crossed for CD Xx

Thank you, B.Lucky, if you were within reach CD would show her appreciation with a big sloppy kiss! :D

She did not really enjoy the examination, which took over an hour and could not have been more thorough. At one point three of us, garbed in scary lead armour [that was so heavy I could barely stand up in it], had to hold her in place for the second set of pictures. CD was pretty good for the first lot - a sideways view - but when required to lie on her back with all four legs stretched up in the air, CD rebelled.
Fur flew, but E.Vet got the pictures he wanted. The first set looked fine; in fact her heart and bones are in such good condition that E.Vet refused to believe CD's age until offered her passport with ten years worth of vaccination stamps in it.
E.Vet then looked at the upside-down x-ray. He stabbed a finger at the image, where there was a large white patch:
"That's not good" he said. :(
"It's in the lung, isn't it?" I replied; heart sinking. :( "But what about that one, and that," pointing to similar shadows just below the first.
E.Vet stared intently at the screen, sucking in his breath. Then suddenly he burst out laughing - which was not the reaction I'd expected from him when contemplating serious illness in his client's pet!
"It's all right - they're my fingers! Look," he stretched his hand over the marks and he was right, we were seeing his finger bones superimposed on CD's chest! :rotfl:

So in the end E.Vet couldn't find any tumours. CD's lymph nodes are fine, everything else seems fine - we just have to wait, and repeat the blood tests next month.

All the while CD was being prodded and poked, Fat Dog sat shivering in the corner as far away from E.Vet as she could get. She hates going to the vet (usually has to be carried in). When I called FD, saying we were leaving, she was over-joyed - nothing nasty had been done to her! Everyone fell about laughing as she pranced out in the manner of a dainty Disney pony. :rotfl:

Then came the :money: moment. I was expecting a three digit bill starting with at least a 3 (for well over an hour of the vet's and a vet-nurse's time, plus the tests, x-rays and explaining the results).
I left the clinic wearing a slightly stunned grin; firstly because CD is not desperately ill and hasn't been kept in for an immediate op. :D Still need to watch her of course, but the outlook is far better than it might have been, as any tumour is still too small to show up - will be easier to spot in future if anything develops, as we now have base-line x-rays for comparison. :)
Secondly I suddenly felt rather well off. :D Daft Dogs benefited; got them not one but two buckets of chicken, and splashed out on a rare take-away (most of which they'll also have for lunch as I couldn't get through it last night - fell asleep as soon as the stove was lit :o).

I was asked to visit DF after going to the vet. That would have made it far too long and exhausting a day so I declined, which was not taken graciously. Am a bit upset as the person disapproving knows only too well that I've got ME, and all about the strain I've been under recently with DF.
    <sigh> Invisible illnesses are a pain. :o

Today it's a beautiful day; the garden is calling. :) Feels like ages since I've had the leisure to lose myself in meditation, accompanied by Dear Daft Dogs and the small busy sounds of the natural world. :)

Yippee CD good news. And of course FD had a result too there, by default!
I had a very similar conversation with a vet about "shadows" on an X-ray, but was actually a persons arm! Relief when I realised but until then horror!

Sorry people are being stupid about your abilities, just ignore the muppets and do what is right for you ( and Daft Dogs)
