Dearest Robin
Disapproving person's attitude stinks, and is hardly the way to gain future agreement. I hate bullies, and that kind of behaviour is a form of bullying.
Glad you declined to visit DF. Even though your vet visit ended well, it was still emotionally exhausting.
And, talking of vet visits, I, too, am delighted at the outcome. E.Vet sounds like a good sort. Sense of humour is generally an indicator of good character.
Happy cuddles for FD and CD, and hugs for you, Robin. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Big hugs all around for you and daft dogs!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

Hello Diary and dear Friends, :hello:Yippee CD good news. And of course FD had a result too there, by default!
I had a very similar conversation with a vet about "shadows" on an X-ray, but was actually a persons arm! Relief when I realised but until then horror!
Thanks for sharing this, Missrlr - I suppose it can't be that unusual a 'mishap' especially when x-raying an animal who wants nothing more than to be somewhere else - CD was doing a pretty good impression of an infuriated octopus while we were trying to hold her still (who knew a dog could be so slippery?)!
Missrlr, thinking of our pets; how is Doglet getting on? Am a bit concerned that if it's a waterworks problem due to age - which we've had to deal with several times - the animal can struggle on for quite a long time being 'not quite right' but if a vet visit is delayed until the crisis occurs, it is then much harder [and more expensive] to achieve a good outcome..(Keeping fingers crossed that I'm wrong and Doglet is now feeling much better).
Sorry people are being stupid about your abilities, just ignore the muppets and do what is right for you ( and Daft Dogs)
Will do my best, but it's annoying none the less when someone I've been close to for over twenty years is so insensitive - suppose he was only thinking about DF (who is certainly more unwell than I am at the moment). News has come back that DF is accepting his meds in hospital and likes his doctor, so am optimistic that he won't be an in-patient for very long.
Someone else gave me a lecture too yesterday; they thought I should have persevered with DF rather than handing over responsibility so quickly when he started refusing his pills.
If DF wasn't such a huge, strong bloke I might have done, but being afraid to sleep is no joke!satchmo1 wrote:Disapproving person's attitude stinks, and is hardly the way to gain future agreement. I hate bullies, and that kind of behaviour is a form of bullying.
Hmm, more ignorant than bullying. Which has to be faced, as on the surface the Nest is the best place for DF to stay until his equilibrium is restored - am the only close mate who doesn't have children or must go out to work every day..
Of course if PC were here we wouldn't hesitate to invite DF to return, as between us we would have a much better chance of supporting our dear friend successfully while he settles down again.satchmo1 wrote:And, talking of vet visits, I, too, am delighted at the outcome. Absolutely agree! Am rather impressed with E.Vet, and delighted at the modest size of his bills!
Still behind on sleep so woke up very late today, to the first proper warm spring day of the year.
The garden is a positive riot of [STRIKE]weeds[/STRIKE] wild flowers brought on by the recent rains. It looks gorgeous despite being mostly unkempt; carpet of green topped with a floral rainbow (plus a few veg desperately reaching for the sky between the herbage :rotfl:).
CD and FD are both now refusing to eat dog food. They will probably get away with it - once the current stock of kibble has gone - as it is actually cheaper to feed 'em on vittals intended for human consumption (ie. CD's preference - raw chicken wings).
Can foresee problems with this change when we come back North, because I'll not be able to afford such luxuries for myself very often, let alone as Daft Dogs' basic diet.
 Have some serious thinking to do; feel pulled in several conflicting directions at the moment and have no idea what to do for the best.
Ah well; so it goes. Will muddle on, one step at a time.0 -
Hello Robin
Just caught up with your diary over the last three pages, I couldn't have possibly predicted that level of tumult! I absolutely laughed out loud after the growing tension of the possibility CD may have a tumour to discover it was in fact the vet's fingers.
In regards to DF, I really do feel from the bottom of my bottom that you have gone above and beyond in the circumstances. You have offered support, advice and understanding where a lot of people would have run for the hills. The fact is that you have your own health concerns and the idea of you in the house with someone who is physically stronger and prone to delusions is just not practical. Your attitude to helping this person has been positive and useful throughout and you should be proud of your compassion and wisdom. :ABarclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Yes, the animal in question became very eel like and a contortionist to boot!
Doglet seems to be a trapped nerve issue, the shaking and so on was when the head went down to eat and then of course combined with a full stomach meant pain for the puplet. Currently he is indulging in puppy circuit training ... over both floors so must be feeling a bit better. However we are off for a full annual MOT work up at the v.e.t which he will hate, he hates the whole thing and sheds so much hair I am frankly amazed I walk out with him having any left attached to his body!I am probably going to restart the evening meanderings to try and get him more settled at night, he is a night owl rather than a morning person! :rotfl:
I am FURIOUS you were lectured, if the person is that worried then blinking well get of their butts and do something like take care of DF rather than have the audacity to assume they can possible comment on someone else status. I suspect this has a strong root in GUILT as they did naff all. I'd be tempted to say well next time I shall phone you so you can come a remove a large and upset person to your home rather than leave a vulnerable SINGLE person in a remote location to deal with this and see their face. What a plonker. Very well restrained for you to not biff them on the nose after that, how very dare they!
I trust you have a relaxing time and DF continues to improve, perhaps when you are more level you can visit?Start info Dec11

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Dear oh me; everything aches today. Is this the dominant bug that was circulating in the hospital waiting room, making it's presence felt? Don't feel like doing anything today and can barely breathe. Damn.Just caught up with your diary over the last three pages, I couldn't have possibly predicted that level of tumult! I absolutely laughed out loud after the growing tension of the possibility CD may have a tumour to discover it was in fact the vet's fingers.
Hello Fudgie, good to see you posting - was wondering how you are getting on.
CD isn't out of the woods yet; all we know is that any tumour is still too small to be detected on scans - which does give her a much better outlook as she's now on monthly, rather than annual checks. But you're right, it was funny when we realised we were looking at the vet's fingers. In regards to DF, I really do feel from the bottom of my bottom that you have gone above and beyond in the circumstances. You have offered support, advice and understanding where a lot of people would have run for the hills. Thank you for your comments - wish my RL friends were as understanding! I've had more grief from someone who I thought did realise the limitations that having ME imposes; turns out they think I'm lazy and just can't be bothered to look after DF.
It's all rather depressing. Over the years I've lost quite a few friendships because folk didn't understand why I refuse invitations to parties or days out, and with this latest shambles it seems that my reputation is suffering. A little angry voice inside is saying it's just that most people don't want to get involved personally with DF while his behaviour is so odd and unpredictable - their consciences were satisfied because I was dealing with the problem.
Now I'm being blamed for "getting DF locked away"
Honestly, I do think hospital is the safest place for DF just now but I can't stop the gossips who find it easier to bad-mouth me than put themselves out to give some practical help.
Suppose I should concentrate on my own affairs while I've the freedom to do so - answer the business emails that have been piling up, then attack Pending Paperwork mountain again; at least those aren't physical tasks so I've a chance of achieving something today.0 -

..So much for that idea: Had to go back to bed after feeding Daft Dogs. No idea how long it was before they roused me - arguing over an avocado.
Feel very wobbly, and as if am stuffed into a corset two sizes too small..
Steam bath? :cool:0 -

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Daft Dogs and I have been blessed with another beautiful day today; sunshine, birdsong and the gentlest of breezes. It's more than enough to lift one's spirits, for which am very grateful.
Missrlr you were right; more sleep, lots of drinks to wash down assorted pills, and a shower every six hours - bathroom steams up wonderfully - have improved my outlook no end.
Which is just as well, as the view in other directions is beginning to look rather scary.
First of all Tenant1 appears to have stopped paying his rent. I'll give him another day before panicking.
Have discovered that I've been under-charging him not just the £200 a month that has been saved by not using an agent, but by at least £400! No wonder each outgoing tenant has offered a queue of their friends who'd like to move in..
But that's academic now - family are taking over, so for the foreseeable future there will be no more ££ from PC's flat to swell the coffers.
Good job I'm used to living a relatively frugal life, but this will probably spell the end to my ventures in the world of savings.
It's definitely put a severe crimp on plans for capital improvements - now too scared to order the automatic irrigation system needed at the Nest for when I'm not here.
Secondly, I have once again been volunteered to give DF a 'recuperation' home when he comes out of hospital - probably next week.
It's good news that he's doing so well, of course.
Not so great that having him to stay will clash with what I thought I'd be doing - perhaps it's lucky that the tickets for our next journey North haven't yet been booked?
As usual when faced with things I can't solve, am going to lose myself in gardening tasks - probably in five minute bursts or however long m' energy lasts.
Although Daft Dogs will probably be a bit miffed when their walk on the beach doesn't materialise, at least I've got an excellent excuse for delaying our next trip to Consumer Central. :rotfl:
ps. Missrlr am very glad to read that you know what Doglet's problem is, and it's being treated. May he have a quick recovery, and long happy life with you to look forward to.0 -
What will be will be, glad you are sorted and get on to tenant ASAP re rent.
Do get irrigation system, it will help you no end and assist with frugal living as you can grow veg with itStart info Dec11
