Ok Robin..........hold out your hands.....I am about to send my lovely magic Mara tam with the orange hair through the box to you.....Ready?0

.......There. Pop it on and I can guarantee that you will think more clearly as it calms the chattering thoughts and puts things into perspective - it certainly worked for me! I feel much more in control of my life, which is such a relief. Nothing has changed on the work front, I have simply decided to wait and see how the proposed changes, which last week sent me into a panic, work out - then make a decision from there. I have had a lovely weekend with MIL (the only member of the older generation in our family left, and DGD. Watching them interact is just so lovely, they so love each other. My sis came over this afternoon with her DS, DIL and DGD, then we took DGD home and spent some time with her baby brother. I cooked a lovely Sunday lunch which I only do with MIL visits and she kept saying how much she had enjoyed her day, spending time with her lovely son and his family. It made me feel very humble; apart from some petrol and the price of a reduced leg of pork we spent very little yet had such a wonderful time and it made me realise just how lucky I am.
Robin, whilst not posting much I have been reading your exploits with Roger and have to say, for the umpteenth time just how much I admire you. You have such a lot on, yet you find time to help a friend in need and receive little thanks and indeed some considerable critisism. I am not at all impressed with your RL 'friends'; your friends in the box would never treat you like that and I am pleased that you have us here to redress the balance somewhat.
I am also sorry that you are having LL problems, you seem to have such a lot on your plate ATM. When I think about how it will be if Mr Dot goes before I do, I dread all the admin stuff that will need to be done, and selling the house to downsize (if he goes suddenly and we haven't had chance to do it already) I simply can not imagine how hard it must be to have to deal with all that and your grief as well.
Still it has to be done, and we being women just get on with it, don't we love? Chin up and eventually it will all be sorted, especially as you now have your magic tam to help:rotfl:0 -

Hello Robin, I have just caught up with your diary and just dropped in to say that I hope Roger is appreciative of what you are doing for him. I know from personal experience that people with BP who are currently unwell can have a horrible tendency to take people for granted. I am always deeply appreciative in hindsight, but I know in some instances I have been extremely blinkered whilst unwell.
I know there is a fine line to be trodden as Roger is an adult, but at the same time it is not reasonable for him to treat your home like a hotel. It's a matter of respect - he should let you know if he is staying out or embarking on long journeys because his unexplained absence is a worry for you. I also do not think it is unreasonable for you to want to see evidence he is taking his meds - I presume you would not have him staying with you if he was not.
On a lighter note (forgive the pun) I tend not to take myfitnesspal too seriously. I like it as it is a handy way of keeping track of what I'm consuming, and I do think it's database of foods is incredibly impressive. I have no idea though why it has selected 1.2lbs a week as your target, I would hazard a guess that it's based on your current weight and your ideal weight (mine is 2lbs). I seem to go over the recommended sugars no matter what I do and I find the 1200 calories nigh on impossible to stick to unless i've done some exercise!Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

Hello Diary and Dear MSE Friends, :hello:
Thank you to everyone for dropping in; I've got out the posh tea-set and munchie treats in your honour, please help yourselves. Especially to the chocolate.
Yes Lucky, I did enjoy my R!tter Sport breakfast - but the way things are going you'd be doing me a favour by removing further temptation..
Dot the Magic Tam arrived safely - thank you very much - am sporting it now (though it caused initial consternation amongst Daft Dogs who can of course see such things, as it's hardly my usual style).
Roger hasn't noticed, but as it's possible to hide things from him by misplacing them a mere 6" that's hardly surprising (this trait seems common in those touched by genius in a particular [narrow] field).
Tbh; think I need all the help I can get with Roger. :cool:missrlr wrote:Hum, well I think you need to have some RULES for Roger the Lodger.
Indeed, Missrlr. Roger is being tricksier than I'd suspected, which resulted in some less than sympathetic comments when he rolled in at half past ten last night.
His reaction suggests that I may have been unwise to trust him to take his meds unsupervised, although he swore that he is doing so. :cool:Fudgefund wrote:I hope Roger is appreciative of what you are doing for him. Yup, that's where we're at. If I were certain that he is taking his pills it wouldn't worry me so much, but he's found a new interest which everyone who's supporting him thinks is a terrible idea.
Roger is not reacting well to being told this.By all of us.

You must have been listening in to our most recent conversation!
Terminating it, Roger said he's intending to take himself off - I know not where nor for how long - to pursue his new interest in the morning.
Roger's attitude was such that I decided to stay up all night in order to avoid being asleep when he comes in for breakfast before leaving. Not sure what exactly am afraid of, but, hmm, just don't want to be vulnerable..
Think an early morning pow-wow with El Divos is in order; should we alert Roger's Phych Doc?
Perhaps luckily, had worn m'self out in the garden yesterday, so did sleep for a few hours until Roger returned to the Nest.
Finally got the strimmer working, so now have a [slightly ragged] lawn rather than a hay meadow around the house.
Also lifted six kilos of spuds from the first batch, which were attracting attention from ants so opted to save what I could - one of the problems with organic gardening is that it can be a race as to who harvests the produce first. :rotfl: (Robin 6 - 3 Ants).
There's also a bucketful of broad beans in the kitchen, awaiting blanching/freezing - and probably twice as many still on the plants.
..No wonder 'm aching all over.Fudgefund wrote:On a lighter note (forgive the pun) I tend not to take myfitnesspal too seriously. I like it as it is a handy way of keeping track of what I'm consuming
It certainly makes keeping track very easy; rather enjoying it.Fudgefund wrote:I seem to go over the recommended sugars no matter what I do and I find the 1200 calories nigh on impossible to stick to unless i've done some exercise!
Hmm, out of the last nine days the calorie allowance has only been blown twice. Learning to enjoy tea with just a pinch of sugar appears to keep away the red numbers.
..It's working. While the scales were out to weigh produce, it was amazing to discover that there's now 1.5kg less of me!(Doubt that will be repeated; as Lucky says, the first bit is the easy bit
).
NewLeaf, feel very empathetic with you at the moment; have a :grouphug: Hope you're getting more co-operation than is apparent here.
Dot; glad to read that you are sanguine about problems at work - and didn't you have a wonderful family weekend to help push such concerns to the back of your mind!
Thank you for your support re Roger. It does make sense that he stays here as everyone else either has small children or works full-time - although he seems to be on the point of rejecting my help along with my opinions.
Wondering if he has to fall further before his LBM truly arrives..?<sigh>
Will he come back?
UPDATE: Yup, Roger has gone. Was very surprised to find me awake; had breakfast, took his pills and his toothbrush, and has promised to keep in touch. _pale_HeadAboveWater wrote:Hope your next post has morethan

If you don't need the space Dot, then please feel free to learn from PC's and my salutory example, and just go for it - downsize!
While it can still a fun project for you and MrD to do together - there seems to be a fairly bouyant market for bungalows across the UK (have been keeping an eye on price trends).
Think how much pleasure you could generate with the liberated capital!0 -

So Roger the ex for now Lodger .... Hum I think a quiet word with psych quack is most definitely in order. Shame you can't get the Daft Dogs to be a little more proactively alarm raising it can cause more issues. Hope you can be more rested now he is absent for a while.
Go you on the veg harvesting front! Sounds wonderful no such fruits here, but the blessed slugs are back with a vengeance currently grrrr

Good morning Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Well, doesn't life look better after a good kip?
Fell asleep well before dark while waiting for an early dinner to cook. Oven has been beeping "ready" all night; luckily the garden veg stew it contained just got tastier while I slept. It was rather novel eating at 5am. :rotfl:So Roger the ex for now Lodger .... Hum I think a quiet word with psych quack is most definitely in order.
Yes, that's been arranged for this morning. Unfortunately Roger doesn't like the Doc he's been allocated to, and was upset to be told the one he'd prefer has a six month long waiting list.
El Divos have come up with Plan B: If the appointment today is not a success, then a better result is likely to be achieved if Roger goes private.
That's not as alarming or expensive a prospect as in the UK, and would only be for six months until R can transfer to the Psych Doc he likes.
Roger can afford it as he's no longer paying rent.
 Had better get on with m'own life tasks while the opportunity is here - R has been in touch; he is intending to return to the Nest "soon".0 -
Phew sounds like a plan and some support for you is afoot. Hope RTL (Rodger The Lodger) does keep taking the meds and the private option works for him.
Yes - about the rent - he does need to be contributing something to you - food if nothing else I think would be only fair and reasonable. After all he still has to eat and so do you! not to mention the Darling Daft DogsStart info Dec11
