Hello Sunday, :hello:
Thanks for dropping in, Chev; am trying to gather all relevant papers - but having difficulty raising any enthusiasm for the task.
Welcome to the Nest, Bubblesmum! :T
Thanks for your kind words <blushes>
Sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with CFS. (((Hugs)))
Are you prepared to do your own research and take charge of your health? Unless your GP is a rare bird indeed [who has a particular interest in CFS / ME / Fibromyalgia], then you may be well advised not to rely on him / her completely, to find the best way of managing your recovery.
Hopefully you were not ill for too long before diagnosis - which included tests to rule out Lymes disease?
Have you heard of Q10? ..Worth reading up on.
As for the windows, well it turns out I still hadn't deciphered the estimate correctly: £9K price was 'take it right now' - increasing to £11K if booked within a month.
They've been in touch again, offering to knock-off a bit more in return for letting 'em use the house in their advertising.
 Hmm. Sitting tight; wondering how much the price will fall if I wait?
Windows Reasoning List now looks like this:
Pros:
*Will increase house value.
*Removes window maintenance from list for my lifetime.
*Justifies rent hike (first for three years).
*Is a nice thing to do for T2.
Cons:
*Windows are really not that bad; old yes, but all DGed and much better quality than affordable replacements (of all the 'matching' homes in the close, only Wealthiest Neighbour has thus far replaced his original windows).
*Has been suggested it would better to save up for hardwood frames, then replace DG when I move back in (an event which will signify the onset of m' dotage).
*Tenant [STRIKE]may[/STRIKE] probably will struggle with higher rent (even though it'd still be under market rate). Would prefer to keep current T (am certain T doesn't want to move atm!).
Don't know. It's another of those decisions which are a hundred times harder because DH can't apply his marvellous logic to the situation. :A
Clever Dog asked me to open the front door at three ayem. We both gazed at a curtain of water pouring off the front of the patio roof, accompanied by deafening timpani above our heads. CD decided she didn't need a pee after all.
Blame it on Divo Three. He just had time to clear out the gutters at the Old House before the sky darkened, signalling the first deluge of the season. It's considered very good luck to bring the rain; everyone is especially glad to see him!
Including yours truly.
Earlier, DS3 had bounced into the Nest, hugged both CD and self, then his attention zoomed onto m' new 'phone (still in it's box on the table - am up to page 42 of the instructions):
"Goodness Mum, what have you got this for? It's much too complicated for you! Look at mine <producing the mobile I gave him last time he was here.>
Shall I make some burgers with this mince? Oh by the way, I need to borrow the van."
His last two comments were addressed to the contents of the fridge, from which he selected CD's packet of gloop and a couple of yoghurts (to be going on with).
Years dropped away..
Divo Three still maintains a ritual begun when he first started school; he was always starving by the time he got home in the afternoons.
DS' mobile has a cracked screen. Serves him right for buying a second-hand iph0ne from someone who was upgrading. As the seller handed it over, DS fumbled and dropped the thing about 20cms - onto his other mobile - result, one cracked screen and one completely broken apple-product.
Karma in action?
Had to disappoint the lad - twice; he's not having m' new smart-phone and burgers weren't on the menu! :rotfl:
He got his third wish. A quick call confirmed that DS3 is insured to drive the van. His eyes lit up when he saw the fuel gauge pointer just below 'full', and then he was gone (avowing to thrash his brother at ping-pong).
Insisted van had to be returned before the heavens opened. It's not moving now until most of the rubber, oil, fuel, dust and everything else ground into the surface of the roads over summer, has had a chance to wash away. The first couple of days are like driving on ice; better not to unless it's an essential journey, or one doesn't value one's no-claims-bonus.
Next appointment is on Tuesday; hopefully this wave of storms will have passed over by then, or it'll be delayed another week.
Divo Three is going to drive because Muggins' presence is required first thing; optimum functioning can not be hoped for, especially without the restorative benefits of tea and breakfast.
Am submitting to a revision with El Medico, which includes fasting blood tests.
After that yours truly really must decide which way to jump.. :cool2:0 -
Just catching up with you Robin and had to smile at DS3 going in your fridge. My DS still does that, straight in the house first thing he does is look in the fridge then he picks up any post that's lying around. He moved out 8 years ago! Was tempted to look in his fridge when I visited his new house yesterday.
Could the windows go on a back burner until you know for sure what to do about them? If in doubt don't as the saying goes. Sound very expensive to me.
Hope your blood tests go ok.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

[/COLOR]rple"]thank you for the welcome. My diagnosis is some what of a relief - it's tied up with the consequences of having Cerebral Palsy (from birth) and now I can explain to people why I am the way I am, and also learn to manage it. Acknowledging it will always be there, but I can minimalist it for periods. I am a qualified Occupational therapist however I'm a bit of a rebellious sort and have never worked in the NHS and social services as I workvery much with holistic principles. So yes I'm reading up a lot and looking at my diet and I seem to have a lot of pots of vitamins now!. I have a lovely GP she's been very supportive so I'm lucky there, when of course I get to see her as is often the long wait. No haven't heard of Q10 another thing to google. Thats Why I love to read other people's narratives diaries et cetera because you can pick up a wealth of information that can be helpful to you.[/COLOR]

:rotfl::rotfl:I have two cats like that, it's so funny when you know they are crossing their legs. A month or so ago we had to have a litter tray as Miss T had a collar on and couldn't use the cat flap. Her brother Mr G decided to go out to get fresh air but come in to use litter tray
hope you had a relaxing day yesterday and the sun is out to warm you xAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Hey Robin. Honestly re the windows leave them. If they are not broke don't fix. If your tenant can't afford more rent and you want a long term bet rather than short term higher gain and you don't need the cash leave it be.
If you do move back then you know the fund situation needed for windows and can do it then. Why spend the money right now?
Glad DS3 is back and "back", do hope you can fathom the phone (suggest go back to see nice lady or even better her family in the next village for a lesson?) and the fasting assessment goes ok

Love the stories about your ds3 :rotfl: My son is the same! He comes in from school makes some soup/cereal and an hour later will eat double what I do for dinner  ! Still he's as skinny as a rake so I can't moan
I agree re: the windows leave them! Can you not just give them a sand down and repaint (assuming their wood and not plastic?) That will smarten them up at least. Dear Diary and Early-Risers, :hello:
Coo - lots of visitors; thanks for popping in, everyone. :TSun_Addict wrote:had to smile at DS3 going in your fridge. My DS still does that, straight in the house first thing he does is look in the fridge ............... Was tempted to look in his fridge when I visited his new house yesterday.
Oh you should have done - and helped yourself to a tasty morsel!
..Am really looking forward to turning the tables on DS3 (when he's got a fridge worth raiding! :rotfl:)debtfreewannabe321 wrote:My son is the same! He comes in from school makes some soup/cereal and an hour later will eat double what I do for dinner! Still he's as skinny as a rake so I can't moan
It's a bit of a theme with sons, isn't it lol? Especially the bean-poles!Sun_Addict wrote:windows .............. If in doubt don't as the saying goes. Good idea DFw; that could be the best compromise for now.
Thank you all, for wise words re windows Sun.A, Missrlr and DFw. :TLife here gets more complicated DH work is a changing and there are redundancies expected
Aargh! ..Keeping fingers crossed your DH isn't affected by ructions at work; the suspense must be nerve-wracking. :grouphug:Bubblesmum wrote:My diagnosis is some what of a relief - it's tied up with the consequences of having Cerebral Palsy (from birth) and now I can explain to people why I am the way I am, and also learn to manage it. Oh dear, Bubblesmum, can imagine your frustration and then the relief of learning what's been happening with your health. Don't assume full recovery from CFS won't be possible though; these days if you get a reasonably prompt <correct!> diagnosis, then the long term prognosis really is pretty good.
Meanwhile, as you say it is possible to manage your particular set of symptoms once you know what you're dealing with.Bubblesmum wrote:I am a qualified Occupational therapist however I'm a bit of a rebellious sort and have never worked in the NHS and social services as I work very much with holistic principles. Sounds like you're actually well-placed to do your own research - and maybe even add to the body of knowledge, later on?
If m' ramblings assist at all, great - but am also keen to learn so hope you'll share any revelations too - Good luck on your journey!
Tuesday at the Nest didn't go quite as planned: Woke up long before dawn, so was already flagging by half past eight due to lack of tea (head thumping).
Divo Three didn't show up, nor answer his 'phone.
A diligent search produced one single fizzy-painkiller - tucked away in the corner of a suitcase. Heaven knows how old it was, but yours truly was sooo grateful to find it!
Thus fortified, arrived in town at the appointed hour. Phlebotomist was very good; success first time and no bruising at all - impressive. :cool2:
Had to call in at Solicitor's to hand over fees / taxes required by the land registry, and pass on news that Nasty Neighbour wants to sell up (gritted m' teeth and had a conversation with him at the weekend ).
By then tunnel vision was setting in, displacing balance - probably ought not to have driven back to the Nest..
But, having no choice; managed an uneventful trip by following a slow van most of the way.
Such a relief to collapse on the sofa with a wet tea-towel on m' head. Slept until dusk, when CD insisted it was time for a walk. Of course we had to meet the insane Alsation..
Avoiding violence made it a very short walk, but CD has forgiven me. :smileyhea0 -
Hello Diary and Night-Owls, :hello:
Sleep / wake cycle still upside-down; feels like nearly dinner-time atm.
Divo Three turned up with a new side-kick in tow; woke me to apologise for not appearing yesterday - they both overslept after yakking into the night when SK arrived - then borrowed the van again.
SK is the little brother of one of DS3's mates; the family teenager-swap scheme lives on into the next generation, which is wonderful. :T
He's a nice lad; making himself useful while he practises semi-independent grown-up living, and has a good ol' think about what sort of career he'd like to aim towards.
Spends: Service charge for DH's flat - £450 (paid until next March).
It was a beautiful evening; CD and self made up for yesterday's short walk, although she had to pull me up the hill.0 -
Dear Diary, :hello:
Re-reading it again, am amazed at the up-beat illusion I managed to give in the last post.
Didn't mention what happened when Divo Three brought back the van, which actually has a huge negative impact on Muggins' plans for the next few weeks.
He wanted to use the printer. Offered a spare one which has been clogging up m' office-space for ages, but DS refused it; prefers to come and print stuff here (my ink, my electricity ).
Maybe am being unfair. Maybe it's just that DS3 tends to get stuck, then needs help to print out whatever-it-is?
This time, I was shocked when the printer finally spat out a set of boarding cards - for Ex! Divo Three has agreed to stay and look after his pets for three weeks..
What happened to driving back to the UK with me?
Don't know, he wouldn't discuss it - rushing off as soon as he'd got Ex's bits of paper in hand..
Ok on the scale of global importance this is totally insignificant, but we'd already spoken about loading the van - after DS has borrowed it a couple of times to further his own projects..
Several folk in the UK are expecting my presence at the end of next week, including T2.
So many contradictory thoughts rushing through m' head..
At least it's a good day for weeding; overcast and still. Have been neglecting meditation practice recently, so better start with that before deciding anything.
The Nest's scruffy lawn is already covered in green fuzz - beautiful after being just strimmed yellow stubs for so long (irrigation doesn't include grassed areas yet).0 -
Sorry to hear your plans have been thrown up in the air. Is a Divo presence (or not) a deal breaker for the trip? XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Oh no Robin that was a bit of a shock. So what on earth are you you going to do? Is there any way you can get back to the UK without DS? Safely that is!
Hope you can have some meditation time and can come to a calm decision.Start info Dec11
