Dear Diary and Friends-in-the-Box, :hello:
Started yesterday:
Lots of visitors; thanks for popping in, everyone. :T
Hope you had an amazing honeymoon, Sparky!
Not much to report since last posting. Tripped on the top step while barefoot and bent m' toes on the corner of a wall. Really hurt when pulling second and third ones straight again; a bit sore now but can walk on the foot easily.
..That'll teach Muggins to wear shoes when venturing beyond the patio.
Divo Three turned up unexpectedly last night, announcing he was going to cook our dinner. Great, eh?
Unfortunately his timing clashed with sunset and tree irrigation, so CD didn't get her constitutional and the electric kept tripping out when both pumps, hot water, hob and oven were all on at the same time.
Am slightly ashamed to admit being grumpy with DS3 the fourth time he called me in to sort out the power, but reckon m' surmise was correct - he had run out of both 'phone creds and food at the Old House.
Side-Kick asked what he could do to help, so was issued with bucket, stick and sack for picking some almonds while he was waiting for his dinner. :T
It was a delicious meal, but I could only manage about a third of a portion. Meant no cooking needed tonight which was good news; CD enjoyed a longer walk.
Today:
Luckily there is no time to relate yesterday's frustrations (tbh both DS and self behaved badly).
More shame: Let m' bad temper carry over this morning, when he brought back the van.
In defence; was asleep at the time after a bad night, and Divo Three just walked in (don't remember opening the door for CD, but must have done).
<sigh>
Blood results are back. El Medico has issued a summons to discuss them this evening, so had better get a shufty-on and take CD out for her walk.Brightspark87 wrote:You poor poor thing, sending hugs and love to you and CD.
Thanks for hugs and love...To everyone. :heartsmil
..It does seem that m' life lurches from one crisis to the next. Stupid, stupid, given what some folk are facing.
<Mental note to self: Spend more time Practising.>
Sorry haven't had time to visit many diaries recently (beyond those on page one of the board)..
Hope life is treating everyone well.0 -

Hello Diary and Gentle Readers, :hello:
Thanks for popping in, Lucky, Piq, Granny and Sparky. :T
Last night's interview with Don Antonio was very interesting. He spent almost an hour going through the implications of m' blood tests; there was good news and bad..
One result in particular came as a real shock; 'bad' cholesterol is almost three times over the maximum healthy level!
Given that A) am 80% vegetarian, only use olive oil and skimmed milk, C) don't buy cakes or fizzy drinks, D) never eat fast food, ready-meals, white bread or sugar, E) rarely go to restaurants or drink alcohol, and F) have trouble consuming over 1000 calories a day - why?
No answer to that, yet - or a reason for m' weight creeping up as waist-line expands - ha, Gok would have his work cut out to make yours truly presentable in high society! :rotfl:
Some of the other results suggest a long-term complication of ME/CFS/Whatever-it's-called-this-week; El Medico is fairly well-informed for a GP, but said he didn't know. We'll both read up on current research - meanwhile he issued guidelines for alleviating the symptoms, and a prescription for a supplement (an alternative to taking statins).
Looking at EM's diet sheet; the only 'forbidden' item am guilty of eating regularly is butter.
It recommends five meals a day - fail there as rarely eat more than twice..
But apart from those two things, m' diet consists of 90% foods on the 'recommended' list and 9.8% on the 'limited' list, so it's a bit of a conundrum.
Apart from all that, there was good news too: Am on annual monitoring for another issue which can produce some of the symptoms that have been slowing me down more than usual recently - but happily it's been ruled out for now; a great relief.**
Spends: The tests were expensive, but worth it (especially for **) - £300.
Called in at the supermarket; bought a large pack of cholesterol-reducing yoghurt drinks, a cute gift for DGS and a few special ingredients to cook DS3 a Mum-is-sorry-for-being-grumpy meal - £50.
Lucky - thanks. Do feel better because the ** problem is still quiescent.
Piq - thanks for posting, don't be sorry for recent absence - you've got so much going on in RL (((hugs))).
CD says thanks for extra ear tickles - she'd be quite happy to spend all day being cuddled, lol.
Granny - thanks for the lovely image; you've no idea what a novelty it is for me to receive any kind of 'card' these days.
Sparky - cross-posted - thanks for your support too, and am glad you had a wonderful honeymoon!0 -
Hey Robin
Glad the results were not all bad. Re the bad cholesterol .... Quite a lot of work has shown diet is only about 20% or less effective in controlling let alone reducing. Exercise is the only thing that reliably reduces this when diet is not working. Would recommend a bit of a Read up on some of the work around this subject because actually the exercise function and quantity can be quite surprisingly minimal but walking is not effective. Have had first hand experience of this and was surprised at the results when I tried this alternative method!
Sorry you had a bad time with Divo and were grumpy together, sure there is nothing to forgive apart from yourself.
Am feeling crap today a consequence of working a15 hour day yesterday and anoth long day with lots of today. I cannot relax on public transport so just gently doing some bits whilst I travel home.
Chin up and hope some answered pop along soon xxxStart info Dec11

OK sticking my nose in again - if you are putting weight on when you you really don't think you should, google under active thyroid. I believe Piq may suffer from this too so hopefully she will be along. Did your doctor do a thyroid function test as part of the blood tests he did? If it should be this it is really easy to sort just keep taking the tablets which once you are balanced up have no side effects - and there are not many drugs you can say that about.
Did the doctor say what your GOOD cholesterol is, it can to a certain extent outweigh the bad? Sorry can't help butting in sometimes.
ETA an underactive thyroid can lower your mood - yet another side effect.0 -
^^ exactly what I was thinking as my weight & cholesterol went up despite eating very little. I insisted on Thyroid function tests, queried them when they came back 'normal', was put on thyroxine as a trial and low and behold a year later, my weight is dropping, as is my bad cholesterol and my mood & energy levels have jumped up considerably.
Glad you like the 'card' - I know the feeling re lack of them. I love cards, probably more than gifts as I keep them and look back at them years later as easy to store mementoes. Sadly the rest of my family don't feel the same way nor do they seem to understand how happy they make me feel.Targets
