Hello Missrlr, :hello:Hate to say it but water based exercises is the best solution .... Walking in water to support joints (must be at least lower arm pit level so 75% of body weight is supported) Heel to toe walking , very effective for core and balance both forwards and in reverse. Takes some doing but effective!
IS there a salt water pool you can use? Perhaps pay (in kind) a neighbour? Most pools I use are salt water ..... Much nicer IMO
Can't think of anyone around here who has a salt-water pool, let alone one with a machine that produces a current to swim against, alas. There's the pool kit I gave to DGS, of course, but that wouldn't be deep enough (and involves [adults] swimming in very tight circles which is surprisingly tiring).
Found this:

Gorgeous, but almost certainly way beyond budget.
However, they also sell the pump-thingy separately:

Looks much more promising - now to find a cheap method of building a waterproof box for it.Glad you giggled at the naughty step but honestly, helping out family you say? Perhaps a reminder about this? Am quite cross on your behalf.
DS3's blown it, and he knows it, hence staying out of Mum's way atm.
Was trying to think about in-family punishments when the kids were young - long before naughty step came into fashion, lol.
 "Go to your room!" was standard, then an additional chore after the perpetrator'd had some time to cool off. Major transgressions resulted in loss of their share of the weekly bonanza (our version of pocket-money). Peer pressure helped:
"Go on! Wind Mum up some more! We'll all get two quid extra - so carry on Bro!" << Very effective behaviour moderator! :rotfl:
Am hoping that without further prompting, Divo Three and SK will turn up and get physical with the stones which tumbled from a couple of walls around The Nest, ages ago..Do get the T3 test (ask El Medico please?) and I know medication is not ideal but ........
Is there a particular reason you think the T3 test result would be significant, given that the other two are, although low, within European range?
Will certainly be asking El Medico why T3 was missed out, when it is usually done with T4 and TSH.
Also on the list for next revision; think it's time for another B12 jab - through the floor again which is common in ME people (despite being very heavy-handed with the M@rmite every day).
All the aches and pains are marching today - twice already have had to curl up on the sofa and switch off for a while..
Last night Robin decided to try Lucky's soup recipe..
Didn't get very far; not got enough of the ingredients atm.
Then, half an hour after taking m' 'drunken meds' it seemed a great idea to cook up whatever needed using first and / or there was a glut of.
Fruit and veg curry, anyone?
Under-ripe mangos poached in carrot juice, added to onions, garlic, peppers, beans, ginger - and lots of grapes. With appropriate spices, obviously.
Looks weird written down, but it's delicious - the grapes explode into divine sweetness, which contrasts well with the savoury heat of the sauce.
Definitely one to remember!0 -

Robin T3 is a test that a lot of GPs don't bother requesting, mainly because they don't understand the relevance. You can be producing enough thyroxine but not using it properly and this is something a T3 test would show up. I've still not managed to get my GP to order mine as he feels I'm now fixed, by taking thyroxine every day. My DD is going to run tests for me when I ho to Oz next year. As for being in the normal range, there is so much variation between what experts believe to be normal, there is no normal. If you are towards the lower ends please ask again as I'm feeling 100% better since taking it despite being in the normal range. I have regular tests and despite taking medication my levels haven't changed much. It's been agreed if my body didn't need the extra my levels would have gone through the roof but they haven't, they've just risen to mid level normal.
Thyroids appear to be a very complex thing and something not many understand xTargets

Not wishing to scare anyone but my friend thought she had thyroid trouble but turned out to be Myeloma - so please don't hesitate. She is fine now by the way.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Good middle-of-the-night Diary, insomniacs and comet-watchers all, :hello:
Robin's on upside down time again.Sun_Addict wrote: »I do like the sound of those drunken meds Robin
Do you, Sun.A? Wish I could bin 'em, lol.
Granny, you're right, thyroid function is very hard for a lay-person to fathom. Interestingly, on ME support sites there are a lot of people having problems with an under-active thyroid, inclining me to agree with El Medico that this could well be a complication of ME rather than a completely new ailment.
 Still reading and thinking about it; not rushing back to EM for another prescription just yet because am wary of the cascade effect, eg: Take drug A for this symptom. But drug A throws something else off kilter - requiring drug B. Which has an unfortunate side effect - bring on drug C. However A and C together could damage the gut - better take drug D to protect it. And so on. Not forgetting that rather than starting at drug A it would be drug J, taking into account the various meds and supplements already prescribed.
Sun.A - glad to hear your friend got the correct diagnosis in time!
There are so many maladies with similar - often vague - symptoms, it's not surprising over-worked GPs may have trouble getting to the right conclusion. Which does sometimes lead to tragedy and Maily Dail headlines, sadly.
El Medico did check, and has ruled out Multiple Myeloma, although he thought that possibility unlikely because am not losing weight - but thanks for mentioning it Sun.A.
This is a good moment to add a reminder: Anyone reading who is wondering whether their own health problem might be similar to what is being discussed, please do your own research and be guided by your medical professional. Thanks.

Bless you, Sparky, your wonderful typo made me chuckle!
If only it were possible to see a counsellor and talk the wretched ME into a dignified parting of the ways, lol - where can I sign up? :rotfl:
Do try to practise meditation most days, and tending the Nest is my version of yoga - couldn't manage both alas; gardening doesn't involve using up limited energy supplies [and fuel] in driving somewhere to a class, plus the produce is a worthwhile bonus.
ETA - Haven't seen a single comet tonight, it's too cold to spend very long outside..0 -
Haha so sorry about my typo but glad it made you laugh! I do think that you should try and exercise (if you want too!!) whilst looking after yourself if that makes sense? For instance like you say with the garden - I get such pleasure from my veggies growing and doing well that its worth the pain!

Dear Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
This is an experiment:
..Wahey - it worked!
Wonder if I'll remember how?
Y'know, Muggins has no trouble clocking up NSDs atm, but on spendy days am lucky to avoid a three figure sum..
Just got back after having van's new tyres fitted. They turned out to be Br!dgestones rather than Dun!ops (apparently the latter are having supply problems?).
Ok - time for a change; fine.
The bill was a shock: Usually the chap quotes an inclusive price; it was 20€ more than the last tyres I bought (at least a couple of years ago so fair enough).
This time, the invoice did not include tax - which added an extra 20%.
Hard times indeed!
Spend: £190. However, may get a refund of £15 by post (some sort of offer on this brand?).Brightspark87 wrote: »Haha so sorry about my typo but glad it made you laugh! Am pleased to read that you are also a gardener, Sparky! :T
It is so enjoyable, producing at least some of one's own food, isn't it?
For yours truly, it has the added benefit of guaranteeing that nothing toxic has been sprayed on the veg and the seeds are GM-free.
Atm am trying to 'dig over' a metre of Terrace One each day that I'm reasonably vertical; three more sessions and it'll be ready to plant broad beans there.
Slow but sure, letting the mind go blank and stopping before exhaustion sets in, is the way that works for Muggins.0 -
sorry about the tyres Robin, I hate it when people quote a price and then add VAT! crazy!!
I agree I love to be able to grow amazing veg in my tiny little patch in centeral London. I do miss the country - it makes me feel happy and all warm inside.
I am going to try and grow pumpkins next year I think! x

Oh Robin I can sympathise with the drugs interactions and taking one to do a, then an there to do x, followed by a different one to do z, but then needing blah to undo so and so.
The brand you have ended up with are my preferred options for tyres so hope these will work for you. Such a fiddle with vat or not when asking for the price!Start info Dec11
