At least you got a hug from PC, awkward or otherwise! OH usually either grumps at me and leaves the room, or rolls his eyes and leaves the room :rotfl:
DS1 gave DH a 'tutorial' after our one and only big row. He was very reluctant, and often said "I'm only doing this to make you feel better, so hope it works although it's nonsense to me!"

You did actually... 2:43 PM (didn't pay attention first time round sorry!) Well sure: midday, nighttime, evening, morning, or all weekend... Whatever floats your boat
Thanks for the reminder - need to book a ticket, but maybe better do that after seeing the medics tomorrow or sod's law says I'll get the timing wrong.
Am waiting to find out how much my lack of self-discipline is going to cost in extra heating on days when I didn't wear more clothing and leave off the CH.
Guess what? Today I'm wearing both jumpers, the furry dressing gown and have pinched Old Dog's blanket to go over my knees! ..She has joined Clever Dog on the bed after giving me a very sad look, poor thing.0 -

It's the thought that counts!!
I like what he said though. I'll maybe just pass that on to OH. Tell him to hug me to make me feel better. He doesn't have to understandGuess what? Well done on your NSDs by the way - you're 1 ahead of me....!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
The weather is getting worse and worse - I opened the door and asked Daft Dogs if they wanted to go for a walk; both stuck their noses outside, gave me a dirty look and retired to bed.
..Well that's me told; fine, I didn't fancy getting drenched either (and we had a long walk yesterday).HeadAboveWater wrote: »They are great on the phone so go for it
They are, aren't they?Thank you very much for your encouragement! :T :T
..A very nice young lady talked me through the whole palava during an hour-long 'phone call, and I now have three shiny new accounts with FD; a "First" a/c, an e-saver and a regular saver a/c. I declined a CC for the time being.
No proofs of who I am were required by FD; it took less than five minutes for me to be accepted - giving a much better impression than LTSB..
It took me six attempts to shift some funds across from that bank - there's something seriously wrong with their telephone authorisation system. Somehow think I'll end up transferring everything across eventually.HeadAboveWater wrote: »Well done on your NSDs by the way - you're 1 ahead of me....!
Ah, but one less than I should have had, due to a moment of weakness. But; realised I may have a slightly unfair advantage as all my DDs and SOs go out on just two days. Plus since I've been counting, it occurs to me that if I do have a spendy day, I've sub-consciously been making other payments on the same day (ie. filling up with fuel on the same day as going shopping and sending out post). Am still spending far too much on groceries.

Good Morning Diary,
Quick visit, as am off to the hospital shortly. Actually looking for my scan discs & blood results at the moment but can't find 'em, so in time honoured fashion am indulging in two minutes of distraction activities, which will of course kick-start m' faulty memory into recollecting where I've mis-filed them.
Sure it will.. :rotfl:
..Normally am a great believer in the patient being less likely to space out their records than the NHS - might have to revise that opinion.0 -
Ah those Daft Dogs are great!!! Times i wish we had a dog too but I know who'd be left to clean up for one. And secondly we're out at work all day and I don't think it's fair to have them locked insideThey are, aren't they?
Thank you very much for your encouragement! :T :T

Ah fantastic!!! :d Pleased you got it all up and running so quick!! I try to do that too. If I know I have to buy one thing, I try to buy everything on the same day!! lolSeems to work ok!

Hello again Diary and MSE friends, :hello:
Well, that was a performance; motorway blocked, then slip road blocked by workmen plus a self-drive van that conked out - all stop until the workers' Gaffer noticed and despatched half a dozen worthies to push said van up hill out of the way - altogether it took me an hour to drive five miles!
..But the NHS didn't fail me; they were already running an hour and a half late by 10am so I still had to wait!
Oh yes, and my distraction technique earlier worked wonderfullyso I was able to present the consultant with all the test results - thereby cutting out another three appointments. However, he prefers a different operation to the one recommended by the private consultant, so I'm back in the queue for another department.
Hmm; probably eighteen weeks delay for the initial appointment then goodness knows how long waiting for the actual op., so that probably takes me up until next summer.
(Minor MSE moment; saved 70p on the parking ticket by queueing for a special 'patient's pass'. Whoopee - what shall I do with that?).
Am not going to wait; will book a ticket this afternoon when I get back from seeing the solicitor's secretary and planting my autograph on several essential documents, including a new Will.It sounds like you have lots of apples, have you thought abut drying them into apple chips? Delicious and last for months.
Yes DS usually does that; he's the apple fiend in this house. Though whether he'll have enough space in his new flat to string them all up until they dry is another matter. I usually make six months' supply of apple crumble which goes in the freezer, and as many jars of apple sauce as I can. This year of course it's up to Tenant to do it if she wants to, and there are a couple of wine-making Freecyclers who help with harvesting in exchange for a share. The problem is, this tree is a peculiar French variety which grows up rather than out, so requires the window-cleaner's ladder and a volunteer with a good head for heights to get the best apples from the top.Well done on sorting out all the accounts. What a weight off your shoulders that must be xx
I am indeed pleased about that, although it's a new system and set of passwords to learn.
Oops - time to go out again - thanks for dropping by HAW, I'll reply to your post later.0 -
NHS waiting lists - not a big user of NHS interms of usually fit and healthy rather than private health user but when we have needed them to put something right its always been something fairly big involving long complicated ops and/or recovery. I have always ignored what consultant has said about length of time to wait and have rung the appropriate surgeon/consultant secretary explained that I can only have op done in a certain window because of work/family commitments/need plenty of warning to get cover/need to marry recovery with long school holiday etc etc and could they give me a date between x and x.OH has done this with a couple of things too. Always worked for us.Nobody says we cant do it and I have never had to wait the alloted time. Some may think this is cheating I say its just using the system or maybe we are just lucky with our health board???.............its the secretaries who draw up the lists remember, based on consultant notes but as has just happened to me I 'arranged' my op last week based round commitments and holiday dates so I could have maximum time off work with minimum disruption to work had I not then I would still be at bottom of pile waiting for notes to be typed.............. Secretary always get thank you card for sorting it out;)
Hope you get your op sorted soon RobinBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Good morning Diary and MSE friends, :hello:
Gosh this board moves quickly; had to go to page 5 to find my diary today - great sign of a healthy community isn't it?
Well I had a super-spendy day yesterday; over £1K gone on the boat fare and €€ cash ordered. But the medical insurance repaid my last lot of bills so that's half the spend paid back in, and was incredibly lucky and got a cancellation so dear Daft Dogs will be travelling with me; no nasty noisy cage next to the funnel for them on this trip.I can also take someone with me for free [sort-of] as the minimum charge is for two passengers.. Hmm, now there's a dilemma; wish one of the volunteers had a licence so could share the driving!
LTSB have been annoying again; offered me a £20K loan at less than half the interest rate of the one I've just paid off! Shall not be taking them up on it, of course. Wish I could transfer it to another poster here who really needs it, but can't think of a way of doing it without leaving myself somewhat exposed..
Igamogam thanks for your comment; that's very interesting to know. Actually I'm going to take all my test results with me and see how much the op would cost to have done privately at the other end, as that may be the best solution (although my insurance won't pay for it).HeadAboveWater wrote: »Ah those Daft Dogs are great!!! Agreed. I wouldn't be without Daft Dogs, despite the mess of shedding hair everywhere, but I can only work from home at my own pace so it's very rare that they're left alone for more than a couple of hours. Not that they mind; the bribe of a sausage before and after a spell locked in, guarantees good behaviour! :rotfl: (They're also trained to toilet on demand which helps when I do have to leave them, and on the boat of course).
Right; time to have a look at today's lists, and do some more packing I think.0 -
