Yes the whole flylady thing is rather militant, I want to join but I am too afraid!! (and I am American by birth!)
I found FLYlady ( US and MSE thread) about 18 months ago and really couldn't keep up:rotfl::rotfl: The 2 things I took away frpom it was the timer idea which I got via another thread and 'keep the sink shiny'. Both work for me but we still live in a state of chaos..........Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Exactly why I like UFyH better. It's not as strict and the support for people is amazing, helping people find ways around things they physically can't or mentally aren't able to cope with. The before and after photo method means you get lots of well dones which lets face it really do help with you wanting to do it again. No one is ever awful about the before state either. And if you don't fancy doing that challenge it's fine just try an older one you fancy doing it's more about doing something rather than nothing.
I felt very chuffed yesterday, bought some detergent at work (i work for a big detergents manufacturer so we can get the reduced) for under £2 to wash my wool jumpers with to give them a freshen, didn't realise quite how many suds it would make. Don't think my machine was too impressed, it kept stopping to let them pop.HSBC CC - £3000 / £3000
Halifax CC - £1032.77 / £1032.77
Mortgage currently at [STRIKE]£82,299.71[/STRIKE] £76,017.62 would love to overpay0 -

..Suggest you either run the machine empty before doing another wash, or put in a couple of spoon-fulls of vinegar [and then run it empty] - don't know why the latter is a good idea but my Mum did that to "save" a machine we similarly abused during student days.

Vinegar is an amazing thing, it is very very good at breaking down the chemicals which cause suds. We use it to clean things at work as it's better at cleaning things without leaving behind a residue. I'll get some white vinegar tonight and give it a quick wash to clean through thanksMight get some baking soda too and do some drain volcanos whilst I'm on. Like I don't do enough chemistry in my day time job haha.

So Mum knew what she was talking about?..No surprise there!
That bank have been at it again; they've up their offer - want me to borrow £25K now! And much more annoyingly, they've treated an internet CC purchase as a cash withdrawal and charged me over £20 for it [insert curse-word of choice].
On an impulse I went over to the B bank - the one that's kindly giving me a 15 months 0% deal - and applied to up my limit. The page said I'd have to wait 24 hours for a decision ... but then it came through immediately! So have transferred the new spend rather than pay LTSB any interest or decimate the house boiler fund [which is generally ignored as sod's law says the boiler will expire as soon as the fund is touched].
Meanwhile the rain fell without a break so daft dogs declined a walk, allowing me to carry on packing boxes. There is quite a respectable pile waiting for DS' strong arms to load into the van tomorrow, and my room is slightly less messy than it was earlier.0 -
Good morning Diary and MSE friends, :hello:
Have just discovered I missed an MSE opportunity last week by refusing a FD CC without letting the girl give me the details  so will rectify that - see if they'll give me the same limit as LTSB - then I'll be very close to shifting everything over and dumping that bank for good; my good.
Spent hours pouring over Google maps last night, trying to work out routes - hopeless as I won't have time to read my notes in heavy traffic. So decided that the time has come; a machine can never replace DH's map-reading skills but could save me from causing an accident or getting hopelessly lost in an unfamiliar city..
Therefore have ordered what will be my xmas pressie; got a good deal using survey vouchers and the best price I could find, so on Monday I will become the owner of a voice activated satnav (something I never thought I'd buy). At 40% of the RRP it was affordable - very MSE.0 -
Oops - my mistake; FD do not have a cashback CC - I really must read posts more slowly!0

No, because I still haven't worked out how Quidco worksam definitely stupid.. Every time I go onto one of those cashback sites I can never find the company I want to buy from - but had a pile of Amazon vouchers and they offered a healthy discount off the RRP anyway, plus they guaranteed delivery before I have to leave, so seemed the best way to get the model I wanted.

It's a US Flylady site..

Oops oops oops - looks like I managed to order not one but two little map readers!
Don't know what I did wrong as only one is showing on my account.. But hopefully a nice American has sorted it out for me.I do find it very disconcerting to be called "Ma'am" at the end of every sentence though - feel like I've been elevated to royalty.
