I can appreciate your situation seems overwhelming to you but believe me there have been many people who have used this site to get their lives back, and plenty that have been in worse financial straits than you are.

Post on the Bankruptcy Thread, keep posting here, there's more than enough experience and anecdotes to help you get where you want to be.

If you post an SOA on here you can get lots of help from people who have been in your situation and much worse!

Gem, you may feel like you are in an impossible position but you aren't hun! I know how you are feeling. I've been there. £34,268 in debt and without a hope in the world. Then I found this place.

All you need is a bit of determination and a few pointers in the right direction.

We are here for the latter, all you need is a willingness to be debt free.

First off, post a SOA (see this thread for a guide).

Then check if you are entitled to any benefits by looking here.

Then give these guys a ring. They are 100% free as they are a registered charity. They even have a freephone number.

If you really want it today can be the beginning of a brand new, debt free life.

please read all the advice and contact cccs.they are really great.you have taken the first step by posting so stay with us and any advice and help you need (except money of course,cos none of us have any!!)will be posted cos there are some very knowledgeable people on here and take one day at a time. ((((hugs)))from me and my great dane,and if he doesnt scare the creditors,nothing can!!!

But now I really do urge you PLEASE post, let us know that you've read all this, seen how much love and help there is here for you, whenever you need it. You really are not alone in all this.

This is incorrect, they can help you even if you have no money left to pay to your creditors. To do a plan through CCCS you need £5 per creditor but there are many other options out there that they can assist with as well.

Hi Gem I hope you post because everyone is worried about you. just to reiterate all the good advice given so far. It is ONLY money, having said that I can understand how you feel as back in september that's how I felt with a lot more debt than you have but today i feel a different person. by using this site and the advice and kind thoughts i have a DMP and am slowly paying off my debts it will take years but I am not alone, I feel good about myself for the first time in ages....you can too. You're never alone on this site whenever you feel down just log on and someone will have a kind word or a helpful suggestion. good luckxx

Been looking out for your next post and am now started to get a little worried.

Please post again - I was sucidal at the end of last year (beleive me I was - ask the people on here!!!) and throughout both the good and bad times the people on here have supported and helped me no end. I now feel able to cope but when I have a bad day I just post on here and there is always somebody here to listen whether it be debt related or not.

I know you cant probably see the light at the end of the tunnel right now and are feeling overwelmed by it all but the fact that you did post on here is a good and positive sign. We all will give you any support and advice you need, even a shoulder to cry on, somebody to laugh with, somebody to get angry with, anything you want.

It all probably seems like to much at the moment so just, please, post that you are ok and then have a read through some of the threads - you'll see just what a lovely bunch of guys are on here and you will realise that you are not alone -we are all in or have been in the same boat - some to a lesser extent and some to a greater extent.

I am totally overwhelmed by the kindness everyone has shown on this thread and by sending me PM's. I have had a somewhat, of a nite's sleep, and although, my stomach is rumbling, I have managed to get onto the entitled to website and filled in the forms for council and housing benefit, and have also completed an online application for a basic bank account.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who have taken the trouble to post on this thread and for those who have sent me pms directly. I wish I could hug each and every one of you!

I am more positive than I was b4, but it is still daunting, but all the advice has given me hope. My next step is to complete the SOA and post that too. And the scariest of em all, to contact CCCS or payplan - which I feel is my biggest stumbling block, as I am so ashamed I have come to this situation, but I will do it. I have to. May I ask if there is a preference in either of the companies quoted?

Don't be. They deal with hundreds of people a day in your situation. They have seen it all before and are as helpful as people on here.

Also it is only a brief chat. They book an appointment to phone you back as they are quite busy. It normally takes a couple of weeks. Why not phone them now? That way you have a couple of weeks to preapre yourself.
