  • I have felt exactly the same, in the wee small hours, before I knew there was a way out....

but then I found this forum & cccs & found I could turn it all around, stopped feeling guilty, started to put myself first.

You must do so too & we are all here to help & support you.

On a very practical note, open a new bank account ASAP & get your wages paid in there so they do not get swallowed up by overdraft & charges. Im sure you will have bank charges you can reclaim (going back 6 years), so you want to be free of your existing bank first. Your current overdraft can be dealt with along with your other debts. Try a basic account from alliance & leicester, no overdraft, no switch card.

(try & sleep tonight, talk again tomorrow)

Hang on in there Gemqueen. There is a wealth of advice on this site. If you have a problem, (especially financial) there are many people who will be able to help you with it. Put yourself first. Eat a good meal. If you are hungry, you will not be able to think straight. Try to sleep tonight and come back tomorrow. Things always seem worse at night.
  • Don't lose sleep worrying about your debts. The banks, finance companies and credit card companies do not care about you, so don't you care about them.

You certainly do not have to have assets to go bankrupt, in fact if you do not have any it could well be the solution to your problems.

I hope Gemqueen we see you back on here real soon, ready to take these greedy, malicious, bullying tugs on with vigour.

You have the support of all of us here.

  • I personally spent years absolutely desperate for some help, eventually you realise its better to admit to your nearest and dearest you have a problem than try to protect them/save face. if not....

cut up the cards, all of them! and seek the advise of the credit councelling service. they will support you in many ways to help get things straightened out. https://www.cccs.co.uk honestly, if you cant see the way they will get you started.

feed yourself 1st and deal with the cards once you have spoken to cccs. if you can it will be best to write to them and tell each of your creditors you can pay £1 per month untill you have sorted out your finances.

also dont forget.... if you earn less that a certain amount you can claim government help.

This is my 1st post but i hope it helps you! Chin up!!

Good morning Gem, congratulations on posting on debt free wannabee's. We've all felt that there's no way out at sometime or another but as all the folks here have said - money isn't everything. Contact CCCS or PayPlan and see what they can do for you. Loads of people of here recomend them and they will help you feel better about the debts.
