Hello E1, its been a while - yes??
    Ok update: 2008/2009

New job started a couple of months ago and my salary has practically doubled!
I am a power seller on ebay!
I am helping out a local councillor who offers a debt advice sessions
    My mum is still improving
My hair looks fantastic!! LMAO - all those vouchers!!
My debts are well under control and 2 have been paid off entirely
I do evening typing work for an agency which brings in more cash
I have a regular stall at a local market selling clothes, bags, books etc
I am aiming to work within a local CAB centre

For those of you in debt and worried: There is help out there. Extend your hand and someone will take it in order to help you. Its a huge step, I know, but once you have made the initial step, you will never look back and only positive outcomes will prevail.

I wish all of you a peaceful and happy Christmas and a debt-free worry 2010.

    Hi Gem

Having read your first post in March 2007 and having read your post today, it is so inspirational! It shows there is hope for everyone out there, no matter how low and desparate they feel and you are a testament to facing the future and moving forward.

Well done Gem and thank you for the update. I wish you all the very best.

  • Hi Gemqueen

im brand new here to, i started reading the boards 3 months ago, i am over £40,000 in unsecured debt and this figure was increasing by about £600/month.I took all my recent bills to CAB . They will work everything out with you, help you to sort out what needs to be paid first, and contact your creditors.
its taken a while but all my creditors have agreed to accept token payments of £1/month and they have all frozen interest.
I was in a really bad way, the doctor gave me sleeping pills and anti-depressants and it did feel like the end off the world, but its looking alot better now....cos at the end off the day YOU are whats important and YOUR health and happiness... your creditors will have to wait.

I didnt think I would have anything to write so soon but.... after starting my new job, I was head hunted by a private company, whose benefits were too good to turn down, so I start 2010 with a very good job, with a great salary, which means debts will be cleared quicker!

Thanks to all who have given me encouragment and advise - its been invaluable. I am in such a good place now, I can't believe I nearly did something silly over some debts. This place has taught me alot, and my aim is to work in a CAB office - a way of putting something back into the community. In the meantime I run a small advice drop in centre in a local church for those who need help in getting debts sorted. I may not have all the answers, but I will find someone who can help!

Here's hoping this entry finds you all well, and worry-free of debts!

you poor thing you need to talk to someone who can boost your self confidence try and step back and look at your situation as if it was someone elses problem firstly being in debt is not a criminal offence if you owe money to someone its them that should be worried not you get an appointment at your local cab asap and keep coming back to this site for support dont worry everything will work out in the end

Gemqueen, I read your first post, saw how long ago it was and had to check all your posts to see if you were ok. Well I am so thrilled that you are more than ok! And how wonderful that you are helping others.

You are such an inspiration to anyone going through the unbearable panic and stress that debt can cause. Hooray for you! :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
