Oh I am going to be feeling poor later today. So the car was serviced earlier in the week (£215) and needs 4 new tyres today (£540), DH had a spending spree earlier in the week, and we had a celebratory meal out with the family (£100). Today the new wardrobes will be complete so that will be another £2500+ to spend out. And the deposit for DD's wedding venue will be about £1500.
So my savings will be below my reserve figure but hopefully when I get paid next week I can restore some of it.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok, another lightbulb moment after two nights in a row with takeaway. Yes, I have been really busy decorating (hopefully will finish the painting today) but I have to realise that currently we don't have the money as we need to restore our savings and get more in there to help towards DDs wedding.
So I am not planning to spend anything if I can help it between now and pay day on Thursday. Thursday will be a spendy day as I have a long booked day with friends, but will try to keep it to under £100 (includes petrol for 400 mile journey and a meal out).
Friday - new fence being fitted (paid for), new carpets being fitted (paid for yesterday, but need to find £40 cash for the actual fitting) and I do need to order a new head board (essential) but will wait to see what the finances look like.
The rest of the furniture we need for the bedroom I will order from @rgos using my card to spread the payment when what I want is back in stock. Oh and a light fitting, but haven't seen anything I like yet.
Must not spend frivilously (sp?)
Happy Easter everyone.
Oh and just remembered I have ordered a bespoke radiator cover for the hall (£75).Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Happy Easter to you too.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So much for not spending. DHs car has been vandalised while parked up when he was at work. So damage to the wing mirrors, rear window, bumper/wing and a flat tyre (which fortunately can be repaired seeing as it was only brand new last week).
So some spending on the tyre repair today so we can get about. The rest we have to get a quote for and see if its worth claiming on the insurance (we have a crime number) or just pay out for it.
And forgot to add to list above for bedroom that we need to buy new curtain poles (essential as the others are broken).Spend less now, work less later.0 -
We are now waiting for a quote to repair the car, they discovered that the drivers door has been dented too. Think it could well be an insurance claim.
And yesterday we went to look at headboards and ended up buying a new kingsize bed in the sale. Reduced from £948 to £415, complete with a headboard. In my defence, the headboard alone that we'd been looking at was £200 and our current bed is 21 years old.
Today I will try not to spend anything at all. I've joined one of the challenges for April to try to get some focus back. Currently I'm almost dreading pay day tomorrow and sorting the finances, which actually won't happen until Friday as I'm out tomorrow - long standing engagement catching up with old friends, can't wait.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Budgets just sorted for the next month. Very very tight on everything although I have still put money aside to live, so there is one meal out and money for my bowls and WI subs.
On paper we are £300 overdrawn which is what we have in savings after what is reserved for DDs wedding deposit. As the overdraft facility is free I'm going to leave it like that and do the 'pay back' in next months salary.
Have had to reserve as well £700 which is the excess for the car repair.
Right - April - bring it on....Spend less now, work less later.0 -
For some reason I had mucked up how much was left in savings by £220 so actually have an overdraft of that now to correct. Also forgot that I needed to include MIL's birthday this month, will need to keep it to £10 and take out of the grocery budget.Spend less now, work less later.0

Not a good start to today. DH couldn't find his tool to do a DIY job so went out and wasted money getting a new tool and then still couldn't do the job so now I've got to pay for a man who can to finish off the jobs in the bedroom.
Lots of shouting, and I don't normally do shouting but I was left with the tidying up and the dismantling of the hoover when it got blocked.
Not doing any food shopping today. We need the money for other stuff so can eat what's already in the cupboards and freezer.Spend less now, work less later.0
