£30 squirrelled to savings yesterday. OldDog is healing nicely so hopefully no other vet bills now except the budget I always put aside for the dogs.

Am doing a BIG shop today with DD and her BF. About to check prices on line before I go out.

So yesterday I split the BIG shop between h0me b@argains (£80) and a Mr T delivery for Tuesday (£50) but will have enough store cupboard basics, toiletries, cleaning stuff and dog food for at least two months.

The weekly top up shop (as per meal planner) - fresh meat and veg etc - came in at £30.

Am planning to put another £15 in the savings tomorrow.

Spends this week will include a day out on Tuesday.

Diary, this has been an expensive week. Spent about £100 on day out on Tuesday, £800 deposit for fitted wardrobes and DH and me treated ourselves to pressies - total £130 - we are saying they are for Valentines/wedding anniversary combined.
Oh and DH now needs a new suit for a new job.

I took DH's suit out of our grocery budget, and now just two weeks into the pay month and all the grocery budget is gone, and I'd been thinking I was doing so well beginning to build up the savings again.

So the meal plan for the week will for the most part have to come out of what we've already got in the fridge and freezer.

Am hoping for a NSD today otherwise I will struggle to keep within budgets/not use savings. So staying in apart from dog walking.

Morning diary. Still mainly eating out of fridge/freezer and just about managing to juggle all the budgets. Obviously haven't managed to squirrel anything to savings though this week.

    Pay day on Thursday.

  • Just popping in to say you seem to be great at budgeting and keeping things under control. After being in debt for so long it must feel great. I have been debt free for years and never fail to be thankful that I am completely in control of my money. Not long till the car loan is gone too.

Thanks for the comments Moneywhizz, I'm always wondering if anyone is reading.

DH is just about to start a new job which will save £4k a year on petrol so I'm hoping we may be able to clear that car loan even sooner, although it's not a priority. Oh and that the car may last quite a bit longer than they usually do with all the mileage.

Two weeks since I last posted. To recap I have been squirrelling more money away to savings, just over £100 in total I think, been eating out of the freezer mainly (today's shopping cost just £13.55) and keeping to other budgets.

Also I get paid on Monday and appear to have received a pay rise which is a surprise as I thought I was getting a regrade only. Will need to wait till next month to see how much it is monthly and whether this month includes any back pay.

Extras to be paid out this month (approx amounts):
    Car service £200
    Vet bills £200
    Argos bill £80
    Birthday presents £25
Big meal out for family £150
and there's probably other stuff I've forgotten. At least there is no council tax again.

Water bill arrived, going up by about a £1 a month, rent bill arrived, going down by about a £1 a week.

    That's it for now.

Another two weeks have flown by and I've managed to keep to budgets. The cupboards are full and I'm happy.

DD has just got engaged which is lovely but I expect that any squirrelled savings now will be to pay for a wedding!
