Well, this has been a horrible week. We had to say goodbye to OldDog on Monday afternoon.
The day started normally with a walk/ride in her stroller and at lunchtime she had her favourite treat which she devoured. I noticed she had a couple of little stumbles (not unusual with her arthritis) and then she went for an afternoon nap. When she got up, she couldn't stand properly so we took her straight to the vet and within an hour we had to let her sleep. She'd had a stroke at the grand old age of 16, so my companion who I first held in my hand when she was only 12 days old is gone and I am bereft.
I took Tuesday off the paid stuff, but back now but having a horrible boss is not helping and I alternate between wanting to cry and wanting to scream, so thought I'd offload into this diary.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Things are improving here slowly. LittleyDog didn't eat for two days after OldDog died but is eating well now. Also her sore skin is clearing up nicely.
Yesterday we got OldDog's ashes back from the vet, and I've just had nine hours sleep. I wasn't having bad dreams or listening out for her.
Yes it will still be upsetting having to tell people at the sports club today but things will get better.
Also had a frank conversation with the boss although I don't think the paid stuff will improve that much.
Oh and a relative has 'unfriended' me on fb because I voted differently to her on Thursday. Democracy eh!! Haha!!
Today, sports club all day for an event, although I'm going to take a break half way through to come home and check on LittleyDog as it will be the first time (except for an hour on Monday) when she will have been left on her own.
MSE stuff - Low spends planned today, maybe a raffle ticket. My share holding dropped dramatically yesterday, may have to have a plan B for retirement...
I hope anyone reading has a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I spent £15 yesterday, raffle, donation, and bought a couple of bits of kit so not bad.
LittleyDog is settling into her new routine nicely.
Today DD and her fiance are coming round in the morning and we're going to a village event in the afternoon. Ooh, better get some cash for that.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Pleased to hear that littlydog is settling into the new routine.

Lots of things on my mind at the moment so I'm writing them down here to clear my head a little hopefully:
Still missing OldDog
Worried LittleyDog may not be alright on her own
Very worried about pains in DHs chest
Work is just pants
Garden is a mess and judging is next week
Ok, so I know that I will always miss OldDog but the raw pain will pass and I'll remember the good times.
LittleyDog is doing well so far so must push that one to the back of my mind as it may not happen.
I will continue to nag DH either to try to slow down at work or go to the doctor - this really is worrying but he is very stubborn.
Work - just do what I can to the best of my ability, most people do seem to appreciate what I do for them. Keep taking the pay while it is there.
Garden - hopefully today will stay dry so I can cut the grass and if I spend a little time each evening after the paid stuff, maybe it will look acceptable. Still dislike all the weeds and snails doing damage though.
Oh MSE - saved £50 this week.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary. Nothing saved this week but finances looking good so I aim to squirrel away some savings next week.
Still worried about DH, his chest pains are awful but he still says he won't see anyone about them.
Other worries now seem minor in comparison.
Busy day today but hopefully lowish spends. Need to get DH a birthday present.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I had a great day yesterday. I took an elderly neighbour into town and we got DH's birthday present and a few other bits (total just over £54) and went on a tour of a medieval building which is not normally open to the public.
The afternoon was spent a bowls and DH treated us to a takeaway in the evening.
That and a lovely long dog walk with Littley in the morning. A bit of a rush (I didn't make it to the church open day) but never the less my kind of day.
Today I should be getting the garden ready for judging later this week but it is pouring with rain, so will be indoor jobs instead.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I managed to get the garden into a tidy state before judging happened on Tuesday. I just need to wait now to see how I've done. We're eating from the garden each day now. Keeping up with the courgettes but have far too much kale.
I've just read back and last big shop was 28th May and we have started to run out of some basic cleaning items so DD and I will put that right today. Also will pop to school fair and bowls in the afternoon.
I'm now on two weeks hols so will stay away from checking finances and just enjoy myself. Have saved £135 this week from unused budgets and have £400 extra put aside for holiday spends.

Fourth day of hols today and still within budgets.Spend less now, work less later.0

Today is the last official day of my hols - still have the weekend - but decided to check on the finances to see where we are. All looking good and following my birthday, I have in my purse £20 winning scratch cards, a £20 gift card and a £25 gift card. I also found an old gift card in there which still has £6.52 on it.
I am hoping that when DH gets paid next week, we will be able to close our car loan 3 months ahead of time, but I won't count my chickens just yet.
Today I am hoping for no spends although I may get DH to get the week's food shopping today. Depends on how organised I am. I am going to a friends house this afternoon to share cake. This weekend, I expect I will spend a bit (budgeted for) as I'm away with DD.Spend less now, work less later.0
