Thanks everyone for your messages. It means a lot to be able to vent on here and I know that everyone else has their own battles too.

TiredTrophy - yes he was a hero during January. He was helped by the fact that as I had the bad ankle he had to be able to do all the driving. The longest he has ever given up for is just over 4 months a few years ago.

Back to form yesterday though; by the time I got up at 7am he was already on the wine, drinking from a mug so I would think it was coffee.

Will just be pottering about today and going out for lunch later as still don't have a kitchen.

I just had a 'memory' from f@ceb00k from 5 years ago - "Life is good, may it continue". And I really can't remember back to what I was referring to, I mean we had a lot of debt still at that time which seemed to occupy every waking moment. But if I said it was good, it must have been, was probably just the small little things. Anyway I can't check as my old diaries are inaccessible at the moment.

At the moment though, things could not be more different. No debt of course and we are saving so very MSE, but DHs test results have not been good and there are two more procedures/tests coming up in the next week. Hopefully we'll then have a clearer idea of what we've to deal with. I really hope we don't have to give DD and DS the option of bringing their weddings forward.

And the kitchen/bathroom refurb is an absolute shambles. We're 3 weeks in with very little progress and living basically in one room and the bedroom. I have contacted a solicitor.

In positive news, I saw the first snowdrops in the village yesterday and am planning to start training for the 10k again tomorrow.

The timing of the household refurb couldn't have been more unfortunate, could it? I could cry for you, I really could. I've got my fingers crossed for test results that give you both some peace of mind.

We've got some snowdrops here, too, and as I planted them all I'm really enjoying each one as they appear. Very strange - we've got geraniums still coming into flower, we've had daffodils opening since mid December and now the snowdrops and crocuses. Plenty of robins, goldfinches and blackbirds and they always make me smile.

    Thanks Floss and HB.

I really need to get out in the garden but it's pouring with rain now. I did manage to start 10k training this morning, more walking than running but it's a start.

In the autumn I planted hundreds of bulbs, but I hadn't planned on the arrival of Poppet and one of her favourite games is digging up the pots and borders. I can see some survivors peeking through the earth though.

Poppet is re-arranging your planting pattern, that's all.

I can only echo the hopes of others that the tests find something that can be dealt with/managed/preferably sorted.
