Sorry to hear about the hoover and the car, fingers crossed there is no third item.0

I feel like screaming but I appreciate that it will achieve nothing. The car needs a replacement engine - £700, plus I've had to hire a car (£320 inc deposit) and pay for taxis for today and tomorrow.
All my share money that was left gone, and I'll probably need to dip into that emergency overdraft.
I have also taken out aa cover today as the cover from the bank account is not worth the paper it was written on. Did the cover through quidco so only costing £19 for the year.
And so back to onwards and upwards. DH says we just have to start building up savings etc again.
And now I'm going to do some sewing, the concentration will take my mind off this little episode.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Well 10 days since I last posted, the car repairs left us with only £60 change out of £1k but onwards and upwards.
Today we did our first big big shop in 3 months so spent quite a bit, and tomorrow is a celebration day for us so expect to spend a bit then too.
One of our new year resolutions was to not have any takeaways this year, broken twice this week!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
And we had another takeaway to end our special day yesterday, consumed with champagne. We had a brilliant day with close family and friends. From an MSE point of view our 'entertainment' budget for the month is now used up but I don't care.
I have some free cinema tickets for next weekend so I won't be confined to staying in!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Sometimes budgets go astray, it's a fact. The important thing is not to let it infect the future. So yay to a wonderful day!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Morning diary. DD announced when she got in last night that there is a crack in the windscreen. It was too late to check, I am hoping she is wrong, but as soon as I get clothes on this morning that is the first job.
Other than that, back to the paid stuff today and hoping for a NSD believe it or not!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So there is a wibbly wobbly crack in the windscreen but we are still able to drive the car which is good, because I waited for several hours today for the replacement to be fitted and the stupid people didn't turn up. Forgot to let me know apparently. So that's alright then is it, after DD has paid £25 for a taxi to work because she didn't think she could use the car.
Rant over.
In other news, spends this week have just been on bargain food buys for the freezer and some flowers for mother's day. And DD has got a new job, full time. So it won't matter to her that bank of mum and dad has closed down and she may at some point before she is 30 actually leave home properly!
I sound a right mare tonight, I know. Promise to behave tomorrow.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've had a lovely weekend, got thoroughly spoiled yesterday for Mother's Day, but it's not been spend free. I am typing this on a new lappy as the other one finally gave up. We also bought locks and bits for the bikes so we can make full use of them this summer.
This morning I am going to sort out our budgets, fingers crossed all is ok for the next month. Xmas saving still going well though.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Finances okish but may need to go into overdraft (free) temporarily. I will see how the month progresses.Spend less now, work less later.0

Yay to new laptop! If the old one died a new one is essential. It's up there with the washing machine, fridge and TV. An electronic world we live in...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
