This week's grocery budget is blown but we do have wrapping paper and other bits for next Christmas including presents, and enough snacks to take us through to July. Will have to be careful with the budget for the next couple of weeks.
DH and I are going to try not to have any takeaways this year. Last year we didn't have many and were finding that we didn't really enjoy them anyway.
This morning I have been into town and got my hair cut (dry cut only £10) and went to the charity shop where I bought 3 skirts and 4 tops for £7, so feeling quite pleased with myself. I have a mix of formal and casual outfits.
Right, time to wash the dye out of my hair and hope the greys have disappeared.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Just popping in to record another £5 squirrelled away to savings.Spend less now, work less later.0

A week since I posted on here. I've had a couple of NSDs and this morning have squirrelled £20 to general savings account and £14 to Xmas savings account.Spend less now, work less later.0

In MSE news, the car service yesterday came in under budget, DS made a repayment to bank of mum and dad and DH signed us up for milk delivery. Not very MSE but supporting a local business.
This morning I have squirrelled another £25 to our savings account.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Yesterday was a NSD and this morning I've squirrelled another £10 to the savings account. The mind is focussed when I know what I'm saving for has to be paid soon.Spend less now, work less later.0

Quick update - another £10 squirrelled to savings account. Another NSD yesterday for me, cant' say the same for DH.Spend less now, work less later.0

Well yesterday was a horrible day. I should have known as soon as my first job was clearing a blocked toilet that I should have just gone back to bed. Paid stuff was horrible with systems that just wouldn't work meaning that I worked into the evening entering data manually. I had to go for a blood test for something I'm sure the doctors are imagining I've got wrong with me, and my DS was rushed to hospital by ambulance where he still is as he's had another severe flare up of his condition. So all in all, not good. As they say, things can only get better.
MSE wise - another £5 squirrelled to savings this morning and yesterday I spent £15 on a pair of boots for myself and £8+ on supplies for my volunteering.
So today will not be a NSD as I expect to be paying something extortionate for hospital parking again.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Well DS is still in hospital so there have been additional costs as he needed more pj bottoms, and LittleyDog has a sore ear this morning so I now need to find the £s for a vet visit tomorrow.
In other spendy news, I used the @rgos voucher to buy a new curtain rail for DD's room (poor quality though) and yesterday got an outfit to exercise in. This only cost me £5 as £25 was covered by a voucher I won back in November. It still means though that I've spent my clothing budget up to the end of March now.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
DS is home from hospital so no more additional costs there. LittleyDog has an ear infection so ££s decluttered yesterday at the vet. Managed to squirrel £5 to savings and £14 to the Xmas savings challenge.
And I hope that the despicable 'person' who threatened my DH with a knife yesterday while he was going about his daily paid stuff has the most horrible day of his life.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've just been planning financials for February, and I have to say that although it's a shorter month, it will be much tighter to us than January. Possibly because of targets I've set myself, but also because of catching up from additional costs from DS's hospital stay, car service and tax is due and unexpected vet bills for Littleydog.
I've already cut my personal spends by 2/3rds for the month to juggle the budget.
Right well I will just have to focus and glue my purse shut.Spend less now, work less later.0
