I've not had access to a computer for a few days as ours is playing up but luckily eldest DS (reluctantly
) agreed to lend me his today.
Thanks for the posts on ketchup, beans and coffee. I'll be trying those and will pick up some Tescos ketchup next time I'm near one of their shops. I might not decant it but just see if we have any comments first.
Small spends this week - only on essentials tho - have taken me up to £261/£300 and I still need to make it until 24th . I have quite a lot of meals in for next week though so hopefully my spending for next week will be minimal.Pay debt in 2012 #278 £2347/£5364

How does this recipe compare (taste and price) to the shop bought ones? I think fresh peppers might be cheaper but I haven't seen them that small other than my greenhouse :rotfl:!
oooooooh, thanks MRN I am going shopping tonight and so will see if I can get the ingrdients.
A little spend last night on milk and a bottle of wine but me and DH were so tired we went to bed at 8.30 and so the wine is left for tonight :T Off to L!dl tonight as DD2 wants 'lami (salami). She is a really fussy 3yo but absolutely adores salami!
Have a good day, raining here

A little spend yesterday of £1.60 on 2 x packs of potatoes. I am going to try very hard to come in on budget, but i am thinking i might put in an early online shop as we are low on fridge meats, UHT milk etc and a few other items. We don't need these items, but my daughter is off to uni next Saturday and i would prefer to have it all stocked now as its her last week. I've been feeding an extra mouth for half of this month which really is making a difference to fridge stuff, so im not going to feel too bad. If i was really mse, i would cook up a chicken and pork loin from the freezer, buy a little salad stuff - mmm what to do, the shopping is booked for 2moz - so might cancel.
p.s. Asda have (had) Saturday slots for £2.500 -
£4.01 on milk, big bag of spuds and carrots today. I think I'll possibly come in under £350 this month, and will aim to reduce by £20-25/month until I reach a level we're comfortable with."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Hi everyone,
Met a friend at Co$tco yesterday so had a bit of a spend up. Mostly 2nd purse items which will see us through a good while. Totals are updated - 2nd purse currently minus £32 odd but as I do this virtually I make my own rules :rotfl:
Replacement bank card came today which means I can go to MrT as we need the basics - milk, fruit, veg etc.
What with all this running I'm not getting time to shop :TCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0 -

Shopping day today, so spent £17.03 in Mr T and £10.54 in L1dl which brings my total to £143.68. Only got one more big shop to do before the month end (28th Sept) so I'm thinking I should come within budget this month. Need to save as much as possible on the grocery bills as we're saving up to go on holiday next year.....x0

I've been away on business since Tuesday and returned to one knackered DH. House is a mess (did that happen while I was away or have I just noticed it?) Been out in the garden and nothing has been picked or dug this week. Loads of stringy beans now picked (hoping there might be a few more if I can persuade the bean plants they haven't made seed yet). Strawberries, raspberries, carrots, beetroot, tomatoes and chillies next! (just stopped for a snack break as too late for lunch now and had a bit of a catch-up) I reckon we've got enough potatoes to the end of the month and then I suppose I will have to buy some again!! All good for GC so far though. I might try for a really small spend this weekend - apart from meat and bananas, I can't really see what has been eaten in my absence...
Have a good weekend everyone.

BUT sandwich stuff ... do you make up your own
Yes, I'm an avoider of those (shockingly expensive) tubs of chilled sandwich filling, don't worryWe don't eat much meat, so get through quite a bit of cheese and veg, as well as the occasional packet of ham or pot of coleslaw.
I guess I just hate making up packed lunches every day. They can get very boring very quickly, for my tastebuds anyway. One cafe sandwich/faffy coffee/bun costs the same as a week of packed lunches though, which am painfully aware of.0
