Just a 16.00 spend this week, wanted carrots and onions to dehydrate,
Asdas were 90p a killo for carrrots but got 10kg for 1.98 from Rosspa.
onions 4kg for 99p, grapes were only 99p 500g, Bramley cooking apples only 1.08 a kg. and a huge cabbage for 59p. I think I saved the delivery charge of 5.50 twice over and didnt have to lug it all home on the bus.Gc 2013 +26 -5. -4 -7 -14 -15 -10.-8.20 +15p+30+5.80 Dec +9 GROCERY challenge 2014 Jan -2Feb -3 March -1.50 April +5.40 May +4.90 June -3.July 16.50/85

I just have to say thank you for creating this thread. I literally just came across it and have plenty to think about when budgeting myself for food now. Personally I eat a lot because I'm investing in myself as an athlete but I'm also saving alongside my girlfriend for our first house so I need to be quite strict in a way.
I will follow the ideas in this forum and see how much I can cut. I'll update you when I've started doing it. Going to begin in October. Thanks again!
Welcome to the thread.
Stopped by MrS for milk today - £173.75/£200 now. Bound to go over when I do the weekly shop and that's without it being a 5 week month so another weekly shop on top of that to go yet.
Oh dear! Been GCing for 3 months now but no clear plan on how to reduce.
Don't panic!! Have you read through the advice at the front of the thread as I found it very useful when I started? I've only managed to reduce by £20 a week (for a family of 4) but I'm happy with that as it's still an £80 saving each month.zippychick wrote: »Hi

OMG am at £426.49 of £450 already, still got to get to the end of next weekend!
But I have everything I should I need for the rest of this month barring fruit, milk, sandwich fillings and emergencies.....
I am also stocked up on wine to keep me going into November and I should have enough biscuits & crisps to the end of Oct, along with various other bits & pieces....
Those of you that put red lentils in to mince dishes - do you cook them first or add them in dry?Gc 2013 +26 -5. -4 -7 -14 -15 -10.-8.20 +15p+30+5.80 Dec +9 GROCERY challenge 2014 Jan -2Feb -3 March -1.50 April +5.40 May +4.90 June -3.July 16.50/85

A quick shop today as nephew is coming to stay for the weekend and needed to get a few things. Are all kids fussy eaters these days? lol
Still have 9 days and just over €45 left, so barring invading hoardes of hungry teenagers, I should hit my target0 -

Whenever DS's friends came over I explained the "house rules" re food - you try everything once, then more if you like it! The fussiest boy confessed to liking so many things - then swore me to secrecy not to tell his Mother that he had tried things - let alone liked them. I concluded then and there it is mostly a power over parents thing!!:rotfl:
