I've another small spend to add from yesterday. It was all naughty stuff too, apart from the milk. But we got milkshake mix and sweeties. Also got some pepper and paprika. Was about £6 in total.

  • Hello all, I hope September has been as good as it can for all.

I went a bit AWOL and we have overspent but I think it's by around £10-£15. I'm going to tot it up later. :o

However, I am still quite pleased with how we did because for our £100-ish budget, we ate really well and have things in the freezer for next month. We even got roast duck (with lush crispy skin) one night because whole ducks were reduced in Mr T's to £3. We've also got some duck meat and chinese-y duck broth in the freezer now and all.

Also, a little bit of competition, the fact we're going to New York in November and a love of the Skint Foodie's blog has inspired Mr Maitane to have a crack at us doing the grocery challenge his way for October (although it does mean a shift in dates to accommodate his payday) and see what we come up with. :j
He's even getting into the excel spreadsheet for his spending. I'm so proud! :rotfl:

  • Oh lordy havn't been on in ages, i have a new man in the pipeline so been busy ;)

Although have still been keeping tabs on my spends, i would like to declare today as £391.71 out of a £350 budget, which is amazing for food and £81.37 out of a £75.00 budget. I know these are both over but a drastic reductoon on the £500+ i sepnt last month, YAY me. I have also now got 30 dinners frozen for the coming month, :D New day started yesterday see you on the october thread.

So nice to hear from you Katy. :)

    How the dickens are you?
I cant believe how well you are doing since you first joined us :T You are doing amazingly!

We are just about to have a very MSE dinner.

I have loads of the smart price batter mixes which are only 7p (don't ask!) and a few boxes of the LOVELY burgers which are RTC at 50o at Asda.

Thought I would do a MSE toad in the hole:

Each burger makes 4 meat balls. Just roll em up.
You dont need to precook them but if you wish you could pop em in the oven to start them off whilst you heat up the fat in your baking tray.
Then assemble by pouring the batter over the meat balls:

Pop in the oven and ENJOY!!!:

  • Wow Jumblejack, nice photos
  • We have gone overboard this month but thats because I think i had reduced the budget by 25%, ate out once and had a take away which I have all includedin groceries.

I am declaring September (23rd Aug to 22nd Sep) at £161.53 which is £41.53 over the budget  but I am not too bothered as we have eaten well :)

Jumblejack -love the idea of the meat ball/burgers in the batter mix.

£8.01 spent today on fruit & veg today - mushrooms, bananas, carrots, broccoli and some grapes. Already had a cabbage, sweetcorn, apple, oranges, onions and kiwi’s in so not too bad. Doubtful that will last the week out though as we eat lots of veg and a decent amount of fruit. Having a rare free Saturday today so off to make some mushroom soup now and will use the broccoli stalks that are in the bottom of the fridge.

    Hi everyone,

Just on to update my totals. Not looking too shabby this month :D

If anyone wants to post their Oct budgets up please make them big and red so that I know to include them in the list at the beginning of October's thread. Otherwise I will assume you will keep track in your signature.

I'm on here until 30th September but am also reading the October thread now so should (hopefully) catch all budgets posted.

Thanks for your help everyone :A
