What is IIFYM?
That's not really true, the only nutrient affected in humans to any great amount by the phytic acid is zinc, Iron a little less (but I eat tons of greens anyway) and very slightly magnesium and calcium , and they are all mostly stripped out by the milling process anyway, I would rather keep the fibre and the better satiety, a lot (but not all) of the phytic acid is destroyed by cooking. I eat a mix of processed, fermented and wholegrain grains though I don’t eat any of them every day.

I lost 3lbs in my first week, I can't believe you can eat what you want on your non fast days.0

Michael Moseley switched to 6/1 because he didn't want to carry on losing weight.
Work out how much you're eating on the non-fast days to make sure you're getting enough nutrition.pink_petal wrote: »For maintenance just cut down to one fast day a week. Maybe have a few days off fasting first to regain your strength after being ill? Make sure your back to full health then back on the wagon!

I'd moved to 6:1 as I'd reached my target, but this being ill has really made me feel low and weary, so I think I'll not fast for a couple of weeks and then get back to 6:1 when I'm back up to about 8 1/2 stone.

That's what so good about this way of eating - it's so flexible.
Hope you're feeling better now.0 -
This is a bit of a random question but how do you guys deal with not eating in social situations if it's with people who don't know you're fasting? I work for a large company and I've told my close friends and colleagues but not really anyone else...a few of the girls in particular are a bit b!tchy and would just be like 'ooh are you starving yourself'...and I can't be bothered to explain!
So today we had a wee lunch planned in our canteen. It's usually a Tuesday so I'm fine but this week it got switched. I decided just to go and take some water but I got so many questions about not having lunch that I ended up going and buying some grapes and a yoghurt. Not the worst but I'm just annoyed that I had to do it. I should have thought up an excuse in advance...is it only me who has nosy work mates?? haha!0 -

I personally would go in with something to hold/crunch on if it was a lunch situation. I wouldn't sit there with just a water. I do think that calls for questions... especially if they are that b1tchy and nosey...
If it was a sliced carrot or something... and if someone said anything I would say "oh, I am having special dinner later so want to enjoy it and not stuffing my face now.." or "I had large meal last night as I stuffed my face on OH's fantastic cooking so am not really that hungry today..." or something.
I do think that refuse a food at "lunch" meeting raises eyebrows... I know it shouldn't, but people are generally curious and with the bad press of eating disorders recently people's head are filled with all sorts.0 -
Fasting today, not ideal as we returned late last night with no opportunity for shopping and nothing in the fridge so had 2 brekfast biscuits for breakfast, Weight watchers little canned soup for lunch and going shopping later. Will have Jamie's baked white fish with sauce... Really looking forward to it! New recipe so wondering about it being nice.

We really do need a fast as well, we were away for long weekend and even my friends commented that every FB check-in was in a bar or at a restaurant!! (it was that kind of holiday:-)) Though we've seen so many people that we didn't actually have a time for proper lunch or dinner couple of times and I only had 1 dessert!!! (unusual for me when we go away) so it might not be too bad..0 -

Thanks, yea I should maybe have planned it a bit better but it wasn't changed til this morning so I was caught on the hop! I'd personally never dream of questioning someone who wasn't eating...that's their business but I guess that's just me! It's maybe because I usually love my food so much so to see me without anything would be a bit of a shock! haha!
Luckily I'm having stuffed peppers for dinner tonight, 240cals so I have calories to play with, even after my unexpected lunch!

just under a 3lb loss last week on my first real week of 5:2. whilst it's less than i would normally lose at the start of a diet (a swear word that i will not be using regularly!), i can easily lose 5lb on the 1st week, i'm more than pleased as i can really see & feel a change in my body shape already.
fast day today & tomorrow as i prefer to get them out the way at the beginning of the week.
have a good week everyone0 -

This seems the easiest way to go if you can't change your fast day. I had lots of comments about my change in eating habits, but they were all interested so it wasn't a problem to explain and now they can see results some people are wondering about joining inThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
