Hi all fast day today, and had the one meal again which as always was fish curry with spinach, but tonight instead of bulgur wheat or brown rice, I had couscous with it.
I must say I seemed to get a fuller feeling after the meal, so may choose couscous in the future.
Can't find where my DW found it, but she read that couscous was better for a diet as it swelled in stomach after eating, which I have experienced :)
Just wondered if anyone had any views on it ?

I have couscous and chargrilled veg on most fast days and it makes a massive bowl for well under 500k. I even have it when I am not fasting. I usually grate parmesan cheese on it, not to every ones taste, but I like it. As for drinks, I have soda and lime, that's refreshing and low cal. soda water and a dash of lime juice.

    Morning all!

Well I've lost 1lb this week. Didn't expect any more than that tbh because at one point during the week my mum was given a shed load of bramley apples and a bowl full of blackberries by a friend so she decided to make 3 different crumbles. One apple, one apple and blackberry and one rhubarb and blackberry. And crumbles are my favourite dessert ever. I'm just amazed I didn't eat more than I did :o

Feel good today though. I tried a kettlebell workout at the gym yesterday and it was suitably knackering :)

Looking forward to the day I measure my waist and find it dipping below the 30" mark though. I'm close at 30.5 but I haven't lost anything from my measurements for ages, so roll on the day that starts changing again!

Have a great weekend folks :)

    Hi all

Finished my second fast yesterday. Will try to plan not to fast on a Friday again, just bad planning this first week and fear of fasting! It was actually fine. Had some hungry moments - to be expected, but nothing terrible. Had a M&S Feel fuller for longer or whatever they're called Beef bourginon meal last night as a change from the omelette.

What do people eat on non-fast days? Do you really eat normally or have you modified your diet at all? I'm planning on having pancakes with maple syrup this morning :o

Well I did an unplanned no food at all fast yesterday. I managed fine all day just the odd pang which came and went. Then I went to bed dreaming of banana bread and pancakes, and couldn't get a wink of sleep and had to get up about 4am to eat something. Oh well.

Gwen on non fast days I don't tend to worry about it, and have what I fancy, just maybe a little less of it than I did previously as I find myself asking whether I really need what I'm about to eat.

How come you did an no food fast yesterday Ruby_Ruby? I just had my pancakes so hopefully it'll be ok. I plan to try to eat reasonably healthily (fruit and veg) for nutrition reasons, but not to sit there hungry on non-fast days. There are good kitchen facilities at work and I'm thinking of taking in a big pot of yoghurt for snacking on non-fast days. Have you really lost 9.5lbs in just over a month Ruby_Ruby? I'd be very happy if I could achieve something like that.

Yeah, I've been doing Alternated Day Fasting for the last month. That was totally unplanned as I had just intended to do 5:2 but I got a bit scared on my first week that I would over eat if I had too many feast days in a row, so I just carried on eating one day fasting the next. I lost 9.5lb in 3 weeks then stayed the same on the 4th, which was fine as I thought the loss was a little fast, and I was concerned about loose skin.

I kind of gave myself a break from fasting this week, thought I'd just do Monday, but half way through yesterday I realised that I hadn't eaten, and wasn't hungry particularly, so I thought I'd just carry on, then I wondered if I could just manage on low cal drinks and water.

Anyway all was fine until I tried to sleep, I ended up reading, doing some work online then finally eating at around 4am :)

I'm thinking about doing 4:3, Mon, Wed, Fri from next week :D

I've been fancying whole-wheat pancakes and maple syrup for a while now, that sounds like a good Sunday morning breakfast don't you think?. :)

Ah, you've been doing alternate day fasting... Hmm, will have to check out other sig's to see how much weight people have lost on 5:2.

I think pancakes and maple syrup sound like an excellent Saturday or Sunday breakfast :D LOVE maple syrup...mmm...have you ever had those biscuits from Canada? They're like maple syrup flavoured custard creams...OMG...

  • No I haven't tried those Canadian biscuits, I'll have to have a look for them, they do sound yum.

You will still lose a decent amount doing 5:2, don't worry about it, there has been some very inspiring success on this thread, and I'll switch to that the closer I get to my goal

If you haven't already, I would check out MyFitnessPal too, and join the 5:2 group on there http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/logout

I'm with Ruby, I just have what i fancy. I stay conscious of what I'm eating but I don't worry about it too much. Obviously i indulge at times but I don't go mad.

I feel really dizzy again today. It is TOTM so it could be that or it could be the fasting or a combination of the two. Do other people normally feel dizzy the day after a fast?
