Yes, when you gained weight it was probably very slowly so its ok to take it off slowly. I wouldn't count calories on non fast days but I would check your calories very carefully on fast days. I think bingeing is caused by watching calories all the time so don't do it. Relax. I took the weight off slowly but it did go eventually. I had a lot of plateaus but you just have to keep the faith.

Yes, you are quite correct, it did take me a long time to put weight on. The thing is I had already lost 2 stone before I started the 5:2 and it took me 6 years to lose that! So losing nearly 24lbs in 29 weeks is not so bad at all. I think I'm just impatient:D also, I know if I lose it too quickly it will just pile back on again. So I've decided just to carry on as I have been and not count on non fast days. I have managed to let my 500 calories on fast days creep up to about 575 on the past couple of fasts:o so I need to correct that as well.

On the upside I managed to knock off 1lb this week, which I wasn't expecting. So I am preparing to stagnate again for a few weeks, any drops will be a bonus!

Well done everyone, it is coming on here that keeps me going! Just about to indulge in a glass of beetroot juice as I have read it is supposed to be good for me. Next fast day Monday. Good luck to today's fasters!

PS well done azureblue! That is excellent!

Losing weight slowly is definitely better for keeping it off.

I have now lost 25lbs since January this year. The last two months have been a loooooooooong plateau which hopefully I have now dropped through. Now reached the top of the 10st block and so delighted. To not see that 70something kgs but a 69.6kgs is heaven. Still fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, keeping to 400cals those days, feed days are around 1500 cals, within a 200 calorie parameter for good sense. Aiming to avoid all sugar, keep the carbs low and the fat high, protein to 56grams a day.
It seems to have made the difference in breaking through the block.

When you say 'keeping the fat high', in what sense?

As in real butter, whole milk, all of the egg, no low fat full-of-chemical Frankenstein non-foods! Hence the keeping an eye on the calorie count as I still have up 40% carbs in a day, which the body will burn before fat for choice. I would like to get that down so I burn the fat properly, more a paleo diet of less than 5% carb a day, but that would be hard for me to achieve.

Hmmmm, at the risk of sounding a bit opinionated -I mean, NO time to boil an egg! Whatever next. Then I suppose it's a bit like NO time to make a coffee -does anyone use a flask anymore?

Each to their own, but I think I'll stick to boiling my own eggs. I do accept however, that given a choice between a packet of crisps or a pre-wrapped boiled egg, maybe the egg would be the better choice.

Perhaps I should have thought of that before I downed several chocolate biscuits earlier:D

Ahh right. Tbh it sounds like I've been doing that then. Though the only time I have full fat milk is in a latte when i forget to ask for skinny :o Must say though I'm so used to skimmed milk now I don't think I could go back to full fat, too creamy for my liking.

Unless there is absolutely no alternative, I'll only drink full fat. Gold top if I can get it.
