Gosh zmikeo that's good, bet you're pleased
I've lost 6.5lbs so far over 4 weeks fasting and 1 week off, very happy with that
I've had to buy some new work trousers as my old ones got surprisingly baggy, so I've bought cheap ones in the hope I'll be replacing them with even smaller ones!
Glad this thread's returned to its usual supportive friendly mode

Hi folks.... dissapoint weekend sums things up for me.
To note, i'm not actually doing 5-2 or any diet for that matter but do follow this thread closely as if I did do a diet, this would be the one...
Anyway we had some family over for the weekend and with the weather being nice, planned a barbecue. So Saturday morning and the men are off for a round of golf so sausage sandwich to get us ready for the day.... 18 holes of golf and we're peckish so steak and onion baguette with crisps and shared portion of chips (didn't realise the baguette came with crisps or wouldn't have ordered chips too :A) Another 18 holes of golf, get home, box of Celebrations open so approx 10 of those before the barbecue and 4 or 5 beers....
Using MyFitnessPal I totted it all up and worked it out to be approximately 5000 calories in a day :eek::eek: Yes DOUBLE what I normally should be having just to maintain my weight.
To put it in context I am well within my recommended weight band, during the week I rarely eat the full 2500, probably closer to 2000 and I do exercise. I was shocked / ashamed to eat double the calories I should be doing in a day, even if it is a one off... gluttony of the highest order and easy proof of how quickly the calories can mount up, especially with alcohol and barbecues.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Attempting to fast today too but think I'm going to give in and change to another day. We've just put our flat on the market and I'm finding it all a bit stressful...god knows why as we've only had positive comments back from people but I'm a worrier. Just highlights that I'm definitely an emotional eater!
I had 250 cals for lunch and thought I'd be fine through til dinner but I'm not doing so well. I'm not even hungry...I just feel like I need to eat to take my mind off thinking about tonight's viewers, viewers from the weekend, what did they think etc etc.
Any advice from anyone else who does something similar would be appreciated. I really want to try and ride this out. I have lots of water and sugar free gum but I really just want to go to the canteen for crisps!

Well, you know yourself that if you give in then it would be emotional eating. On the other hand, why not give in, have your crisps and then you will avoid a binge hopefully.
You can fast again another day.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Did anyone else fast yesterday?
I struggled with it but did manage to keep to it with lots of water and distraction. I don't know what it was that made it so hard, maybe the heat, I felt quite dopey in the evening too and had an early night. OK today though.
I'm glad I did cos I've weighed this morning and just edged below 9 stone (8.99 lol). Half a stone to go.
Pink petal I hope you felt better later on and I hope the flat sale goes well. I'm sure tesuhoha was right and you can try another dayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes, I was fasting yesterday too.
I'm trying a new system now too, which is to eat very little until after 5pm. Surprisingly, for someone, who always loves breakfast, this works quite well for me, and also has the advantage that I don't go to bed quite so hungry.0 -
Hi all
Thanks for replying yesterday. I did end up giving in and honestly I felt better for it. I didn't binge, just ate normally and it's what I needed! Feeling better today so trying again and fasting straight through to dinner tonight.
Love how you can have bad day and just change your fast day to suit!

Yes I fasted yesterday - have now decided my days will be Monday and Thursday. I too found it a bit harder yesterday although still not as bad as I thought I would be when I first started this way of eating. For breakfast I had two Ryvita Crackerbreads with a scraping of low fat cream cheese and a fruit tea, for lunch I had a WW Chicken Noodle soup which left me with loads of calories left for my dinner which was an M&S Cajun Chicken. It left me with a few calories for a nice cup of tea later in the evening which funnily enough, actually helped as I was starting to get a few hunger pangs. Am loving it so far though.0

Anyone else fasting today?
I've done well considering there's mini choc bars being circulated round the office! Went across the road to Sainsbury's and bought a wee sachet of 40 cal hot chocolate and that's keeping me going!
Really looking forward to my dinner tonight!

I'm fasting tonight/tomorrow as I work nights. So it goes a little bit odd eating wise but I get my calories in and leave long stints between food!
So this morning I had normal breakfast. I'll have some greek yoghurt with fruit and maybe a small salad this evening before work, then the same again for 'lunch' which will be around 1am. Then not eat again till tea time tomorrow.
Greek yoghurt (the fage 0% stuff) is my new food to try as its protein which I believe is good to eat on a fast day as it makes you feel full and is low calorie. I have it mixed with some berries and porridge oats for a sweet and I've been making a salad dressing with it. (yoghurt and mint sauce add a bit of water to thin it down a bit)0
