Hi all! I did this last year with great success and as a holiday is coming up I'm back on it, with today the first day.
I had a cup of tea for breakfast, a Sainsbury's four bean salad for lunch with 170g of red seedless grapes, and I've got half a Covent Garden Veggie soup for tea.
Had lots of water and feel pretty good on it today!Wish it win it 2013

I have been on the 5:2 diet since january, and it really works for me, like it does for a lot of other people. It took the first month to get used to the idea, but now its just rutine.
I had a fast day today:
Breakfast
Cottage cheese
Lunch
Large salad of spinch leaves, baked cherry tomatoes, raw squash, snap peas, raw red onion, and some canned tuna.
Dinner
Homemade tomato soup
I drink lots of fresh water and herbal tea during the day0 -
Thankyou Tommelise for the links, I'm sure they'll be useful, I especially like the tinned tomatoes blog
I'm hungry and I've used up all my cals for today but I'm NOT giving in!
Going to look at the recipes now to plan ahead better for Thursday.
I have to say I wasn't sure if fasting would work for me as I have quite a physical job but I'm fine :TThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Not too worried though, although I don't cheat on fast days I really do eat what I fancy on non fast days, so fully expect a painfully slow weight loss. as long as it goes down eventually I am happy. Planning an omelette and huge salad for dinner tonight.:D
you may have lost inches though, have you measured yourself?Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Best thing I ever did was find this thread. I feel much more motivated and confident.
Fast day yest. Went as long as I could but succumbed to a rice and curry pot thingy (which was actually fairly vile!) because everyone else was eating and I felt left outBy late eve I had a cup of soup and a gherkin!! I went slightly over the 500 but I'm not too worried about that. Listening to all of you I think it's more important to concentrate on health and I got a fairly long fast in so if the science is correct I might have lowered some number of some kind
I started today (non-fast day) with grapefruit!! I fancied it.
Off to check out those 100 cal recipes above and I love the cold ginger and lemon tea idea. Thanks all xxDEBT LBM-3.10.2011Total debt-6800  09.09.13-zero

Morning all! Good luck today's fasters. Had a sneaky pop on the scales this morning and I'm down about 1lb. This is also showing as lower body fat, higher body water and higher muscle:j Now I know I really shouldn't be so excited As it's only 1lb but there is also another half inch off my waist, making a total of 6" gone from there altogether. Plus I am edging ever so slowly towards that magic marker where you drop into the next stone level. So a few more lbs and I will be back where I started when my 2nd son was born over 30 years ago!!
So for all of you who may sometimes feel a bit despondent when the weight sticks, or you don't feel that you have lost enough considering the effort you're putting in, or maybe you've even gained a pound or two. Don't lose heart! I have felt and experienced all of these things over the past 5 months and to be honest I started the 5:2 mainly for the potential health benefits -although I definitely needed to lose quite a bit of weight as well. When I look back to some of my previous photo's I cannot believe the difference because my total weight loss in around 6 years is approx. 4 stone. This just shows how slowly it has come off and dress size if I dare say down from 24/26 to 18. So although there is a long way to go, I have also come a long way.
I suppose it is good to remind myself that this is a plan for life, maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to hit maintenance mode like my DH but one thing I do know I am going to keep on trying, keep on trying to ignore the disappointing weeks and keep on getting excited even when a pound disappears.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Well done for your losses so far :T the ginger and lemon tea is from morrisons 80p for 20 bags and is the nicest so far. I did make a berry sorbet, with frozen summer berries, thawed, 1 tbs sugar and squeeze a lemon in, whisk up and freeze, then keep whisking it up every hour, for a couple of times, and it made a nice few deserts on fast days when I wanted one. The recipe said 3 tbs sugar, but I did one and it was ok. I also made a coleslaw for something extra on my salad. Shredded white cabbage, grated carrot and onion, mixed with 1 tbs mayo and 1tbs of low fat yogurt, shake in some vinegar and a tiny bit of whole grain mustard. Make large bowl and had a lot of taste. Tesco lighter than light mayo is 14 calls for 1 tbsp. Have a good day everyone.0

So I weighed on Saturday and hadn't lost any weight but lost half an inch round my waist so that is good. Admittedly I felt disappointed but I'm continuing because I remember all the other health benefits! Today is my first fast day this week and I couldn't finish dinner! It is great to feel really full on so few calories! I'll be fasting again on Thursday and my fingers will be crossed to see if anything has happened at the end of my third week.0

well done to all those with losses I'm so impressed with the results of others, but i'm clearly doing something wrong!!!
As at today I'm right back where i started in Feb!! (and I have stuck with it rigidly 5:2) Although initially I did loose a few cms around the middle I have stayed put weight wise, and the 2kgs during this period are now back - I just cant understand it as OH joined me 10 weeks ago and has lost 6kgs
I do all the food prep, coooking etc... the only difference being for his additional 100 cals on fast days he has semi skimmed (not skimmed, as I do) and 1 tsp of sugar in his teas - other than that everything is the same - he does obv eat more than me on non fast days. I even go to the gym 4/5 times a week (mix of cardio, weight pilates) when he has a very sedentary job - what can i do to see some movement?0
