5:2 diet

Hi everyone, fast day here today which is going well:) just grabbed a banana though as I skipped breakfast and I was feeling a bit rumbly. Trying to drink more water today too.
Seems I have missed some of the interesting input on the forum over the past week but in defence of this eating plan I have experienced the following:
The 5:2 works for me for the following reasons
1) I have had a slow but steady weight loss -19lbs in as many weeks
2) I have lost a considerable amount of inches from my waist. This being important because an incorrect waist/height ratio (ie too many inches around the waist compared to height) is considered a health risk.
3) My blood pressure and resting pulse have dropped significantly and are now at a much healthier level.
4) I now have much more energy and swim every week. A 20 mile cycle ride is now 'normal' as I don't feel shattered at the end of it.
5) I sleep better.
6) I look better as many people have commented and I don't just mean with reference to the weight loss, but more often the comments are about how well I look.
7) this is the longest I have followed any eating plan for over 25 years!!!!
Like many others, I won't be rushing out for the nearest burger or desperately wading through a pile of sweets and chocolate tomorrow, but IF I feel like it, I will have a treat. I think this is the thing about the 5:2, you are not setting yourself up to fail. You can eat healthily on the restricted days as well as the unrestricted days. You can indulge in treats occasionally.....and if it works.....why knock it?
Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion on what constitutes healthy eating.........and perhaps hearing the views of others allows us to explain WHY the 5:2 is working for all of us.
Ok, so waffling over:D just felt I needed to input a little more often as I have been AWOL for the past month or so due to family circumstances.
Weigh in tomorrow.....yay:p (I hope) keep up the brilliant work everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hello folks
3rd fast day today and I feel OK
I had a boiled egg for breakfast, a bag of salad leaves and a carrot for lunch and I've got enough calories left for a home-made tuna pasta thingy for dinner plus cups of tea and ginger tea.
Work's pretty stressful today but I'm not coping any worse than if I'd been eating
To the people asking for recipes - I've seen some in the Daily Mail (ages ago, Mum gave me them, but they might be on their website) and in this month's Woman & Home magazine. Personally I find these recipes too prescriptive, not necessarily to my taste, and you have to buy too much special stuff; so I'm happier just eating a salad or a veg. stir-fry but if you find it helps to follow a plan then obviously do what suits you best
I seem to have lost 1kg in a week according to MyFitnessPal but I expect a lot of that was water?

When in desperate need for sugar, go brush your teeth. Toothpaste kills the cravings for me.

Another ¾of a lb of this week but another inch of my waist and an inch on my thigh. (though that probably will be temporary as I was at Body Pump last night). I only have about ½ a stone to my target weight. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Not sure how this week will have gone..pigged out on chinese and sunday lunch last weekend, was poorly mon/tues so didn't eat much at all, but made up for that on weds with much toast and marmite- so who knows what will transpire! Will let you guys know later ..fingers crossed xx SRM.Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -
Well I haven't been on for quite a bit now. To be honest I haven't even bothered with the diet for about 3/4 weeks. I got so fed up of pushing myself to lose weight it was doing my head in.
Anyway I got back from Paris yesterday and I'm not going to lie, I didn't hold back.Too much of my favourite bread/pastries!
Overall with the couple of weeks before my hols and then this past week I've eaten terribly. I've put on 3lbs all in all.
So I'm back on it today and I'm having a fast day. Had a couple of cuppas so far and a slice of toast. Feeling good, and I definitely need it.
Good to see everyone still doing so well and nice to see more new faces.0 -
Well, it was only 1lb off. Bit cheesed off as hoped for more, but it was a funny old week- hey ho. Onwards and upwards......there's no rhyme of reason...why on earth did I lose 6lbs in one week, 3 in another, then 5 then 1 ?? Still, it averages out at 15lbs in 5 weeks, so that's good really. Final weigh in next week.....that won't be pretty as we have sat night out with mates, tues up to London for theatre and dinner, then 2 nights in Spain-whoops... I sense a gain coming on!! Toodle pip all xxDebt-free...and staying that way...0
