5:2 diet

my body copes very well with this state....regular intakes of balanced and nutritious food is a very recent concept when you look at how humans have fed themselves. Yet, we are still a thriving specie.
This is incorrect. Experience of most of the fasters on here will tell you that you do not eat more than usual on feast days, neither do we eat a lot of junk or have unhealthy cravings.
You are entitled to have your own opinion of the diet, but please don't give more faith into your ideas of how it works compared to the real experiences of people who actually follow the diet.
^^^^^ thisMortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

Which for 1 day is not harmful
Also on the day after you starve day, you would probably eat more than usual and have alot of chocolate/junk since you only had 500 calories the day before so your craving a lot of things.
Research and experience has proven otherwise. also I am never starving on fast days as I fill up on low calorie but filling foods like brassicas and other veg
The plan is not consistent, its stupid imo. Why not just eat healthy 7m days (there aren't 7m days in a week only 7) a week and avoid 2 days of being sillywhy not mind you own business instead of being rude
Wrong on every count as research has shown. As you have not bothered to research it and are just posting your "stupid" opinions - your opinion is up to you but it's obvious you have posted on here without bothering learning any of the science behind this. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. on the days you have 500 calories, how can you not feel low in energy, dizzy and tired. oh well, whatever floats your boat
Because you use up some of your bodies reserves of, glycogen first, then fats, what do you think happens when people diet? I go to the gym on fast days, do a full days work, sleep like a log. Fasting in one form or another is very common in a lot of cultures, Muslim, Russian, German, Budhist, Catholicism etc. So it's not exactly new.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. the only way to diet is to exercise and eat healthy. No other method is natural to the body. do you really think we are meant to fast 2 days out of 7, what the hellThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Anyhow, although we value your input, I think the contributors to this thread will stick to their "unatural ways".:pI lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -

Exercise not part of diet, they are 2 different parts of fitness.
If you read some of the literature available we are designed to have period of hunger and period of glut. Our bodies are built for it. The 2 days out of 7 is a way of switching on the processes within the body that take advantage of the fasting process. You could eat healthy(the word is actually "healthily" ) all the time and not lose weight for various reasons. All you are doing is repeating the failed shtick of years gone by without knowledge or learning, well done.
You are still a rude ignornat poster anyway, and opinions are like anuses - we've all got one.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

you're the one who is being ignornat (the word is actually "ignorant")
the basal metabolic rate is at least 1000, you eat 500 2 days of the week, it wasn't designed for this, or else the BMR would be 500!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

How did people managed when calories had not been invented or when there was simply no food around for days on end? Did they drop dead on the spot?

Good heavens.

Well life expectancy was much less, body needs at least the minimum amount of energy required, 7 days a week! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
