5:2 diet

Because this diet appears to change your metabolism... Something that eating healthy meals 7 days a week doesn't.
On what basis do you state that it is 'not good for the body" ? Do you have evidence of any harm it does? If so it doesn't seem to match what many followers health checks seem to indicate.:think:I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
well the basal metabolic rate is at least 1000 calories (the amount of calories needed just to keep things functioning when resting) so are basically starving your body.
Also on the day after you starve day, you would probably eat more than usual and have alot of chocolate/junk since you only had 500 calories the day before so your craving a lot of things.
The plan is not consistent, its stupid imo. Why not just eat healthy 7m days a week and avoid 2 days of being sillyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Your opinion is very commonly shared. However, its set against ongoing well respected research, some which has been developed over decades now. This is less controversial among many biologists than say, Atkins.
In practise one rarely overeats the next day as food feels more 'satisfying' and less forbidden than on many 'diets'0 -

You are entitled to have your own opinion of the diet, but please don't give more faith into your ideas of how it works compared to the real experiences of people who actually follow the diet.
It is possible that some people have had negative experience of the diet; nobody claims it's for everyone; they have not posted their accounts of it.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Just thought that I would share my experience - been doing this since September last year and am maintaining a healthy weight - total weight lost 1.5 stone and am back to a 32" waist, which is something which I had resigned myself to being unachievable on other diets. The biggest weight loss was September through October last year and my weight is now steady.
I much prefer this to other diets as, fast days aside, I'm not constantly calorie-counting or worrying about having treats, and after holidays (when I don't bother with the fast days), I know that within 14 days any additional weight gained will just drop straight off.0 -

Actually no you don't crave the day after a fast day, your wrong there!
Actualy can't think of anything more consistant than 2 fast days,5 NORMAL days and can think of only one contributor on this thread that is silly!!!!!
By the way I am actually on the 5:2 diet so can only talk from experience......... silly that isn't it:rotfl:0 -

Perhaps you should read the whole thread if you are interested, you will then see that most people after a fast day dont splurge out on junk food at least not to a detrimental effect.
Not sure why you decided to come on here and rant but hope you are feeling better for it as IMO your lack of useful information is :rotfl:Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish

How is a little complicated to explain; some theory is that your energy gets refocused into searching for nutriments and hence you become more alert.
All I know is that I am full of energy on fast days; the first couple were hard, but my body has got used to it and I actually enjoy the fasts.
The only noticeable negative was feeling cold, but this has stopped in the warmer weather.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0
