Oh, that's such a shame as the interview answers many of the questions you, and others, were asking earlier :(

I'm not sure which link mojisola gave you but this is a very recent interview with the highly respected Swedish doctor Andreas Eenfeldt and Mark Sisson, the guy responsible for the whole Paleo/Primal blue print movement.

Surely, if you are eating a number of pies you will mainly cease to put on weight at the same rate?

Not necessarily. Your normal diet may be just one pie too many so, by cutting out your breakfast and lunch pies on your fast days, you will go into a 3 pie deficit and weight loss will be the happy outcome. :p

Yep, its a mark sisson link. That itself links on to a mark sisson piece on IF being not necessarily suitable for women. The tone of his approach seems somewhat different in the two pieces. Not contradictory just less committed.

This protein thing really confuses me. The bbc are saying low Protein on fat aysm but then a ham and egg breakfast sounds, well totally not in accordance with that.

I think I know the article you mean. I skim read it with the intention to follow it up more closely as it links in with another area of research I've been doing on the effect fasting has on various hormone levels.

Today I shall be doing another mini fast. I did one last Friday, one on Tuesday and now today.

I'm finding them surprisingly easy, no headaches, dizzy spells or any noticeable side effects.

Like SAG I suffer from IBS, with headaches and joint and muscle pain so I'm trying to cut out grains for a while and see what happens.

Apart from a couple of minor slip ups this week with wheat I have managed this and I have to say I feel so much better. No headåches, IBS much improved and even the joint pain seems a little easier. So far so good.

Re the low protein I would think that a reduction in protein two days a week wouldn't do any harm as long as you made sure you had sufficient on the no fasting days. I would think ham and eggs for breakfast is quite healthy.

On my fast days I tend to have something eggy for brunch and then either fish or meat for dinner. I supplement these with loads of vegetables, salads, some fruit and plain yoghurt.

This comes in at around 500 to 600 cals and I feel fine. I've lost a couple of lbs which is a nice bonus. Yes I could do with losing about 20lbs but at the moment I'm just happy to improve my IBS symptoms and to reduce the long term health risks of diabetes, heart disease.

I am 61 and have a relatively clean bill of health so far. I would like to keep it that way for some time yet. ;)

Thanks for the link Pineapple, very helpful. :)

I really like the idea of this and have attempted a lighter version. So far i've done 14/24, 14/24, 16/24 and hoping for another 16/24 today. I had a little bit of mental fog the first time I skipped breakfast, but have been fine otherwise. I'm not doing lengthy fasts because as a veggie saiety doesn't hang around too long and i'd be pretty miserable I think.

I want to sort out my relationship with food and tell the difference between actual hunger and emotional hunger. Was lost yesterday when I had some disappointing news and couldn't eat the feelings.

Anyways, taking it slow, getting used to eating less often this week, adding in exercise next week, and keeping a journal all the while.
Debt free (finally) and saving a deposit for my first home.

Lots of them are still fat. :D

Imagine how big they could get without a slight break.
