LIR - Why don't you start with just walking around your house at first. That way, if you find you've done too much, you're still at home. It's a step in the right direction.

After a while of that, then you can move onto walks outside and so on.

I hope you feel better soon!

You know, you are right. I have been so sedentary these last few weeks i have ceased to see home as a place things can happen :o

On the plus side i am downstairs for the last couple of days and we have no downstairs loo, and i have just started a medicine that amound otherthings acts as a diuretic, so i am running up and down stairs a lot! I should be doing housework which would get stuff done too but.....

Cabin fever! Totally understandable! Do you have a garden? If so, get outside in the lovely sunshine and walk around that for a bit. You'll get exercise, out of the house, fresh air and Vit D! :D

Oohh, stairs are good! I hate them, but they are good exercise! lol

Housework....pfffft, what's that? If it isn't urgent, leave it and concentrate on you and your health for the time being.

Totally agree, forget the housework, a bit of dust hurt no one, just concentrate on yourself for now. Im not sure what your restrictions are but could you manage a few stretches, even whilst seated?

Here's an example of chair-based exercise on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSGXXZSSXBo

Apologies if these are too basic, as I said I don't know your current level of mobility but youtube is a great resource for exercise ideas :)

Chameleon, that is a great idea. Fwiw i am generally 'ok' mobility wise atm, but weak as a kitten. I do sometimes have mobility issues but these thankfully are not an issue at the moment. I am going to do the sitting down stuff you linked then search for some more to do. I have done three up the stairs visits since sayipng i was doing stairs a lot!

(euronorris the weather is clearly much better where you are today than here, :))

I think it was a genuine question rather than someone having a go, I wondered the same thing in an earlier post. I think most people just assume a fast means you don't eat in a 24hr period.

Muslims fast between dawn and dusk during Ramadan, they are still fasting.
Fasting is primarily the act of willingly abstaining from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. An absolute fast is normally defined as abstinence from all food and liquid for a defined period, usually a single day (24 hours), or several days. Other fasts may be only partially restrictive, limiting particular foods or substance. The fast may also be intermittent in nature. Fasting practices may preclude sexual intercourse and other activities as well as food.

Same goes for Ramadan which is even less of a fast. Must be the biggest misnomer going. You can eat what you want - just not in daylight hours. In what way is that a fast? :rotfl:
Anyway I'm on my second week of the 5:2 and feeling good. Btw, some people on the 5:2 seem to be spacing out their two days of restricted intake. I thought it was supposed to be consecutive? I suppose anything is better than nothing but I suspect there might be more benefits doing it consecutively..

Try doing Ramadan above the Arctic circle it's a hell of a fast just now.

So with you on the processed food front guys. I've not eaten margarine since i left home 24 years ago. I always tell people that talk about butter negatively how margarine is grey when they make it until they bleach it white and dye it yellow, how could someone voluntarily eat that never mind enjoy the taste of it. If I'm trying to cut down on the calorie front I substitute butter for cream cheese on my bread for a sandwich.

Most marge is made by hydrogenating vegetable oil (though not all veg oil spreads are hydrogenated) and hydrogenated oils are full of trans fats, anyone think there is any good reason to add them to your diet?
Some veg spreads like vitalite use solid veg fats like coconut or palm oil to set instead of hardening them by hydrogenation though.

Which is actually no big deal - more of an inconvenience (unless you are above the Arctic Circle as pointed out :D).
Though it is probably tricky for those with heavy, physical jobs.
