5:2 diet

Fasting day today, after a somewhat excessive pancake intake last night
I just had my meal for the day: homemade Bolognese sauce (containing loads of courgette, mushroom and pepper) with something I've never tried before - zero calorie pasta. It seems to be 7.7 kcals rather than 0, but still very different from the noodles I normally eat, at 150 kcals per portion. Surprisingly, it's not that bad; the texture is OK, and the taste comes from the sauce. The half packet I've just eaten has been quite filling. I still have to see how my digestive system will handle it, as I sometimes have mild IBS symptoms. However, at £2.49 per pack, it's only going to be an occasional replacement for regular noodles!

I have a whole 4 spare calories left today.
What luxury!

However, I found that I was losing weight at the beginning despite indulging in treats. I did recover the excesses from Christmas over Jan, but find that my weight fairly stable now, if going down very slowly, which is fine as I am nearly at my target.
Thanks for this Mado. I'll just have to try to resist sweet things as much as I can.
I'm doing my second day either tomorrow or Friday - can't decide which. I will see how I feel tomorrow and also which day my OH is doing. Isn't it great to be able to diet like this?
I have lots of friends doing this diet but it's early days for us all. We will see in a month how we are all doing and I will report back.
Good luck all.0 -

I see some OS friends on here, hello!
I've started 5:2 this week, or rather I'm actually planning 4:3 as I'm away at the weekend and won't be able to make healthy choices. I've been counting calories on MFP since early Jan and have lost a stone but have lots more to lose.
I've found I get full much quicker, no doubt because I'm now choosing the right kinds of food instead of junk - that's not to say I'm giving up junk completely!
Obviously it's very early days for me but this does feel like something sustainable.0 -

Hi Possession welcome to the 5:2 thread. I have been on here for about 3 weeks and lost just over 6lbs in the first 2 weeks. I haven't weighed in yet this week.
My 6th fast day is tomorrow and I am finding the 5:2 fairly do-able. However, I need to find something reasonably exciting to cook for our Valentine's dinner tomorrow night and it will have to be for around 250 calories each .....so no pressure there:rotfl::rotfl:Good luck!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hi everyone, well that's our 2 fast days done for this week. Even OH is finding it easy; in fact he said, if I didn't tell him, he wouldn't know he was fasting! Difference to 'normal' meals, is a lot more vegetables and no fats, cheese or cake for him. I don't think he would be prepared to eat this way every day but is happy doing it twice a week.
Good luck all those with fasting day to come.0 -
Broke through the 14st barrier this morning. Was stuck at it all last week. Today has been easy, I was going to eat nothing but someone had cooked me dinner before I could say no, would be rude to waste it.
I agree this seems pretty easy. 13.6 next target which I was hoping to get to by end of Feb, looking unlikely now. Haven't seen that weight in years.0
