5:2 diet

would love to join in if I can. Was on the lose 10lb in 10 week board but exercising more, eating better and not drinking have left me more or less the same (well, 1.5kg off - even after Xmas) in 5 weeks, so somebody over on that board suggested i try 5:2. Just watched the Horizon program yesterday and am impressed with what I saw. Even though I have a smallish amount to lose (5-6kgs to get back to where I once was!) my body fat, which has been measured medically and at 2 gyms (and was close on both) is high at 39% (the other read 37%) and I'm only 5' 2". I haven't been able to find much info on what to eat, either on fast or feed days - can anybody recommend any sites/books? But I am starting with a fast day today (and planning second on Thurs) and hoping to find out a little more info Natbags0

Oh absolutely.
I could never have started the way I handle the fasts now (ie no food until I get home in the evening). Neither could I have eaten less than the "allowable" amount.
With a bit of training, your body adjusts to the situation...
Agreed, The only reason I jumped straight into 16:8 fasting is that I was already doing it on a semi-regular basis anyway for other reasons.
And even as I have adjusted to it I find my eating window which should start at 2pm rolling into 3/3:30pm easily before I get round to making something!0 -

Hi all and welcome to those just starting.
I did my fast yesterday and find it definitely gets easier. I'm doing more exercise too (dancing is my favourite).
I don't weigh myself a lot but rely more on my clothes to let me know if it's working. I just know that if I weighed myself I would get too obsessive about it so for me it's best not to.
I'm encouraged that this could be a long term way of eating which is good for me. Still wish I could get rid of my sweet tooth - I know some people find it diminishes but mine hasn't so far:(
Good luck all and keep going0 -
Hi 5:2ers, is anyone out there fasting for 24 hours - for example non fast day ending with dinner at 6pm Monday, fasting (with 500 cal or less) Tuesday till dinner after 6pm?
Hi Rowley, I get confused about this, I fasted from Sunday 7pm til about 8pm last night with 500cals in this time slot - I made some flapjack and had some about 9pm and thought I had failed my fast day - have I ??? I'm a little unclearSeal pot challenge no 7-# 331 Saved £140 SPC - Target £30

Others may disagree but, unfortunately, I would say yes because you ate more than 500 calories on your fast day.
For example, I also fasted yesterday but went from Sunday 9:00 pm until 5:30 today with around 400 cals in that time slot.0 -

My restricted calorie period lasts for around 36 hours, which is the way I prefer to do it. I personally would think I had failed the fast day if I ate more than 500 cals on the fast day. However, I believe the MM book says that it is acceptable to fast from say one evening meal to the one the next day if you find this easier. So on that basis I am not so sure you have failed.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
