  • Body fat scales are inaccurate to huge a huge degree that they are indeed hokum.

I had my body fat measured in a hospital (as part of a research project) with a full body scan. The people running that machine had a VERY low opinion of those scales.

Many of the figures bandies about on the net about average body fat are also hokum.

Pinch an inch. That will tell you the truth.

Yes I believe they are as they measure a resistance to some current that travels at various speed through fat or muscle.
But, if used in the same conditions (ie same time of day) by the same person and the object is to look at variations rather than absolute numbers, I suspect they can be a good indication.

Yes I agree with you, I think they can be a useful tool for registering variations.

Hi 5:2ers, is anyone out there fasting for 24 hours - for example non fast day ending with dinner at 6pm Monday, fasting (with 500 cal or less) Tuesday till dinner after 6pm?
  • Hi Rowley- I do that. I have a late tea (due to shifts) so the last thing I ate last night was at 8pm and the first thing I'll eat today will be at about 8-8:30 tonight.

    I'm on fast day 5 today! :)

On my fast days I'm finding it easier to eat my calories later & later - is anyone else finding that? Yesterday I didn't eat anything until about 4.30 - then had the rest of my quota about 6pm & now I'm just about to have breakfast & I don't really feel that hungry

    ps - 152.4lb this morning - :shhh:

Well done on your weight loss silvasava:T I still have to split my 500 calories into two fairly equal meals. So still having 250 at 7am and the rest as late as possible which is at the moment around 6pm.

My low times are around 3:30pm and 8:30pm but I am managing to struggle through them. I don't think I could wait until 4:30pm before I eat anything though. Perhaps that is something that I might be able to achieve in time.

    Good luck to today's fasters:T

  • Rowley,
I also do 24 hours of no food - endless cups of tea but no food.
So supper Sunday then nothing till 500 calories for supper Monday then nothing till Tuesday lunch.
    While still staying active.
    Its great.

    Oh absolutely.
I could never have started the way I handle the fasts now (ie no food until I get home in the evening). Neither could I have eaten less than the "allowable" amount.
