    Hello everyone,

I will be having a fast day tomorrow so lunch will be my first meal. We always go to Subway on a Monday on our way to my little one's gymnastics lesson. I always have one of the salads anyway as I really love them. Anyway tomorrow I was planning on having the full salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, green pepper, sweetcorn, olives and jalapenos but no red onion) with turkey breast and ham plus a sprinkling of grated cheese (I still try to have calcium as I think that it is important). So, on the wall it states that this salad is 113 calories. I asked last week if that was with the cheese and they said yes but I don't think it can be. Also I'm not sure whether they work their calories out based on only a few of the salad ingredients rather than the whole range. If anyone knows, could you please advise me. Thank you,

  • Thanks to everyone posting on this thread - read the whole thing over the last 3 days as well as the Michael Moseley book and today is my first fast day!

Have my food planned and am looking forward to seeing how the day goes - should be a busy day at work so hopefully that will take my mind off food.

After a weekend of meals out, birthday cakes, hot cross buns and alcohol Im actually looking forward to giving my system a break :)

  • Happy Monday Fasters in the snow! Another day of abstinence for me so must keep busy and drink plenty of water too. Good luck for today. :-)
    :hello:
  • I have lost 1lb this week- went mental over the weekend with the shifts I've been doing in work so I deserve that! I'm going to switch to 4:3 when I work long weeks (every 4 weeks I work 7-10 days straight so we all eat junk to keep going and for treats!) which I think should counteract the worst of the indulgences. Still- 5lbs in 2 weeks- I'm pretty happy about that! :)

Good luck everyone who is fasting today! :)

    Another Monday faster here :)

I have just filled the slow cooker with veg, added some curry powder and a tin of tomatoes. Planning to eat this for both lunch and evening meal with cauliflower 'rice'. Foodfocus says this is 307 cals so will probably treat myself to a boiled egg to keep the hunger at bay. My third week and it does seem to be getting easier.

I have the 'lurgy' at the minute (sore throat, aching, cough) and was not sure whether I should fast or not, but not feeling much like eating anyway so thought I would. I think I read somewhere the fasting when you are ill can actually be beneficial??

    Good luck Monday fasters.

It's my regular fast day, but I'm working from home today (which happens maybe once every 2 years). I'm used to fasting at work, where there is no food available even if I wanted it - here, at home, the situation is different and I'm a bit scared! I've got my lunch/tea ready in the fridge, leftovers from yesterday, and I've had my morning coffee and am drinking water. I know that I can resist hunger but it's the mindless snacking I'm afraid of...

Good luck to all the Monday fasters!

  • Sorry if already been mentioned, I think the Daily Mail have a pull out about the 5:2 diet today / this week. Has anyone got it? Any feedback?

I was hoping for some good meal ideas for fasting day meals.

For the turkey and ham it says 113 which is what it says on the wall at subway too but I don't think this includes the cheese and was unsure whether this includes all the salad ingredients as I think the sweetcorn an olives would be more calorie dense than the lettuce for example. I've scrolled down the subway page you posted (thank you) and have found some totals for cheese so I'm going to go with the highest value of 57 and say total 170 calories. Thank you for the link.
