5:2 diet

I'm currently yo-yo-ing up and down the 77kgs range, but this is good because last month it was the 78kgs range and before that the good old 79ers! The general direction is down so HURRAH! Breakfast of 2 crumpets with 4 slices of cheese today. Blimey this weather is dull dull dull. What we need is sunshine and outside warmth to help us on our way. :-):hello:0

I have lost a couple of stone just by counting calories, however, I think I need a kick start, so going to do this diet on Mondays and Wednesday, can someone please tell me if the following is okay:
WW soup 77cals
1/2 thin 50 cals
apple 50 cals
jelly 10 cals
50g chicken 70 cals
100g runner beans 30 cals
100g cauli - 38 cals
6 tablespoon gravy 90 cals
100g swede/carrot 40 cals
will drink black/tea and water
similar on a Wednesday but will have a fish in sauce instead of chicken and gravy.
My last meal will be about 6.30 and will eat again about 9.30 - should it a longer gap?
thanks everyone0 -
AAArgh - weighed myself this morning (FD tomorrow) & I'm 154.6lb  & I dont pig out - not a chocolate/ice cream/any cream lover although I'm fond of cheese but have only eaten that sensibly. I can only think that because I did my two FD's close together most of the weight loss was fluid. I WILL look on the bright side though 'cos I'm still lighter than when I started. I did do WW years ago and found my loss was in ounces rather than pounds - especially as I got nearer my 'core' weight. I'm thinking (hoping) that's what's happening now. I shall carry on

Oh dear silvasava that was disappointing for you, so annoying when we work so hard and then find that nothing has changed or even a bit has gone on. I think though that our weight does fluctuate from day to day and if you just happen to weigh on the 'wrong' day you might get a reading that is disappointing but does not necessarily reflect the true picture. You might find next week you have lost more than you expected as everything evens out.
Well done for keeping going:T -it's just a hiccup and hopefully will soon resolve itself. This is when we need our willpower the most (at least I would). I find I get defeated quite easily and that is why I always give up, but hopefully not this time. I have my next fast day tomorrow too and again I am quite looking forward to it.
chipsdog In my opinion, that looks ok, you are well under the 500 calories allowed. I am assuming that your last meal is 6.30pm tomorrow and you won't eat again until 9.30am the next day so around 15 hours with no food. I usually only manage 12 hour gaps, but have had very encouraging results from this. Good luck tomorrow:T
Well done SevenOfNine Sues48 and azureblue :T

I'm sure from my old WW days you should really only weigh yourself once a week & at the same time if possible. I'm going to keep it to Sundays & perhaps I'll have a more accurate reading
I think because the 5:2 is so easy to do I'm not disheartened about it as my weight has come down anyway.
Keep it up everyone - every little helps as Mr T says hahaSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

I'd suggest eating more protein than 50g, prob about 100g as it's more filling-for example if you change your apple to tangerines and lose the thin (imo it won't fill you up- but the soup will) you'll still only be eating the same amount of cals but it should be more filling. Just a thought.

I'm actually looking forward to my fast day tomorrow. I haven't been particularly good this weekend so hope a fast day at the beginning of the week will be the start of a good week.
The good thing is that my OH is joining me and I think that will make it much easier.
Onwards and downwards! Good luck all this week.0 -
I've just got back from visiting my brother, who unbeknown to me is also doing this diet. Over 3 weeks he has lost a stone, but he has got a fair bit to lose.
He has been watching his calories on non fast days and has also started running a couple of times a week.
He has been on various diets over the years, successfully losing weight but he always piles it back on within months, so we will have to see if this one is any different!0 -

Me too!
I have been a bit of a piggy again this weekend, all good intentions out of the window, so have probably put on a few pounds as I usually do at weekends:o
I think it will be a lot easier when the weather warms up and salads are more suitable:)Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

My fast day too tomorrow. I think it does help alot when your other half is joining in as well and mine is doing marginally better than me:cool:
This will be my fifth and I am quite relaxed about it. I must admit I really don't count calories on non fast days. I suppose there might come a point when I will have to be a bit stricter with myself, but it's all working ok for me at the moment, so I'll wait and see how things go.
Good luck Monday's fasters!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
