I'm on my fast day today.
Dinner last night was at about 6.30pm and then I had lunch today at midday - boiled egg on a bed of spinach with 15g of feta cheese.
Dinner tonight was a prawn stir fry.
I put al my food into chronometer, which is a website rather similar to myfitnesspal in that you can record all you eat and it gives you calorie count. It also gives far more nutritional data (macro and micronutrients, vitamins fats etc), whichare drawn from official US or canadian govt stats. I don't look at it all but what is interesting is that it shows what percentage of your overall nutitional requirements you've taken in. According to this, I have achieved 75% of my nutritonal requirements in just under 500 cals.

I think I'll go to bed early to avoid temptation!
    Trying to keep in budget.

Superpup - sorry to hear you had no sleep. I have the opposite to you, I have the best sleep ever when I have fasted. It's one of the things I look forward too, sleeping. Hopefully on your next fast it won't feel so bad. But well done getting through Fast Day 1 :T

Thanks, the green tea really didn't help but I'm pretty stressed at the moment so any little thing like an excess of caffeine will cause a problem. Was exhausted last night but did get to sleep at a fairly reasonable time.

Was supposed to be my second fast day today but woke up feeling pants. Sore throat and weak and weedy. Decided there was no way I could do a few hours work on an empty stomach feeling like that so had a bowl of porridge but couldn't eat it all. Had a few roasted chickpeas at lunchtime but was so busy all afternoon I almost carried on with the planned fast day anyway.

Made bread and hummous though and Grandson wanted something to eat so had some with him after school. Have definitely got lurgy so will see how I feel tomorrow. If better, I will fast, if not, I'll leave it until after the weekend. I plan to do 5:2 for ever (or scaled down if I start to lose too much weight) so I'm not beating myself up for missing a day. I never get ill so this is very unusual.

Have probably eaten all I want for the day and I've eaten quite a lot and still nearly 600 calories remaining on MFP. Calories are mainly from bread and hummous but I guess it's not the worst thing I could have eaten and I'll get back on the good stuff once I'm feeling better. The garlic alone should kill everything off!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Only two and a half hours until bedtime -can't wait for breakfast. Today I have had a 250 calorie fruit smoothie for my breakfast, loads of drinks (non calorie) and dinner tonight was Chicken & Rice with veg, just under 250 Calories. Felt a bit wobbly about 7pm, but fine now:) Weigh day at the weekend:)

  • I'm done too .. will be heading up to bed once Waterloo Road has finished.

tomato and basil soup - 120cals
king prawn noodle salad - 280cals
light hot chocolate - 35 cals

Feel loads better today than I did Monday. So I know for sure that fasting at the start of TOTM is not agreeable with me. Weigh in will be Monday!

Well have finished my 2nd day - so week 1 done. Had an omelet for breakfast at 6.am and have just had second meal of the day - big plate of broccoli and a piece of salmon. Total 560 cals. Felt a bit easier today, but did get a bit of a headache.
  • I found this thread quite interesting too.after a lifetime of obesity I recently lost 4 stone with LighterLife. As part of that you eat 4 'foodpacks' a day-basically artificially produced very low calorie meal replacements.Interestingly you dont feel hungry after the first few days and you get to 'abstain' from food and thus think hard about your relationship with it.Since reaching my target I decided to fast 2 days a week (I think its not supposed to be concurrent days)It's hard at first but just one day at a time means it is not all that long till you eat again, you control your weight and reduce your ability, and desire, to eat a lot.One thing I learned is that people are fat because they eat too much.End of.

Wow people are fat cause they eat too much... end of ... Mmmm interesting take on it, I would've thought maybe if they don't excercise enough could play a factor, or certain medication could play a factor ...or any other of a myriad of things ... but no ... People are fat cause they eat too much ...end of ...

That's a very educational comment, I'll be sure to pass that on

Good Morning everyone:) I have woken up today feeling so much better after my 2nd fast day than I did after my first, what a relief. I wasn't really hungry at all this morning, but have still had my usual healthy smoothie. I don't want to get into that situation whereI have to count everything even on non-fast days. I feel very optimistic that this is a plan I can stick with:)

I certainly don't believe that the only reason people are 'fat' is because they eat too much. I think there are far more complex reasons . Of course if we over eat then we are probably going to put on weight , however there are those fortunate souls who seem to be able to eat almost anything without putting on an ounce of weight (and I know several of them). It is my opinion that Genetics also plays it's part, as may certain health issues and lack of exercise.

Morning, glad you feel better today. I too feel much better than I did after my first fast, although I did wake up ridiculously early with a rumbly tum! Just had my breakfast, so hopefully onwards and downwards( the numbers on the scales obviously) !

Fasted on Wednesday - no probs. I weighed myself first thing Thursday NO weight loss! However when I've dieted in the past I sometimes found the weight would take a week or so to drop so I'm carrying on. Next fast day will be Saturday 'cos I've found I can quite happily prepare food for DH without eating it myself. I'll do him his favourite steak & feel very self righteous & smug ;)
