Olympic Park? Can I visit?

Having watched the Olympics since they started, I have booked a train to visit on Saturday, just to walk around and take in the atmosphere.
However, I have since seen an item where it says that general admission is not allowed, is this true?
Thanks for your help.

yes its true, you need an Olympic park day pass to be able to enter the area and wander around. I don't think there are any Olympic park day passes available though, I think they sold out weeks ago. Check London2012.com tickets to see if theres anything available.
You could go to Hyde Park though, thats a free venue with big screens etc for the Olympics.0 -

'Fraid so. During the first week it was possible to buy a ticket just to wander round the park but not in the second and all events are sold out (though check the London2012 site for returns. You *may* be lucky...). Ditto the Paralympics though there are more chances of returns for that. Why not go to Hyde Park to see events on the big screen?0 -
Thanks to you both, thats £70 thrown away!
It never occured to me to check and the ticket line is useless, I just looked on ebay but the nearest I can get is a used day ticket for sale!
fI anyone does have a day ticket and they can't make it I would, of course, pay any reasonable expenses.
Thanks againFiliss0 -
Why not just got to London and have a wander round anyway if it is paid for?
You could go to Stratford and ask on the day whether there is anything available but I looked for someone else and they were sold out. If you have the tickets, why not just go anyway.
There were loads for Paralympics left - can you change the date of the train tickets?0 -

You can't buy tickets on the day *officially* at any Olympic venue though I've seen a few people trying to offload spares. But I've also seen people holding up signs saying'Tickets wanted'. Maybe the same people...
And there are no day tickets at all available this week. Sorry. But why not come to London - there are loads of free Cultural Olympiad things going on.0 -
Thanks again for your replies, I will go anyway and decide when I get there if I go to Stratford, thats a good tip about people selling spares, just as long as they're not called Stan Flashman, of course!
There are a couple of shows I would like to see anyway so will make the most of the day.
I work on the theory that some days you're the seagull, some days you're the statue........Filiss0 -
Check out Lastminute.com - you may get a bargain on the theatre ticket. Another thing I would recommend is taking a trip on the Docklands Light Railway - you'll see plenty of Olympic venues from the outside plus the new cable car and if you're aren't a Londoner it will be all probably be new to you.0

Yes, I did see they had some £5 and £10 theatre tickets when I was looking a few days ago.
Be really careful about buying them outside as there are a lot of touts. Never pay more than the face value. Also check the website the day before as some may become released for sale then too.
Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to check out the 2 for 1's page - there are lots of offer on there.0 -

there aren't loads of Paralympics tickets left for the Olympic park venues now, they've been sold out too for around a week now. There are still some tickets being released, but you need to be quick to get Olympic park venue tickets, regardless of whether its for this week or the Paralympics dates.0 -

Someone asked me to check for them last Friday and there was still a decent amount left at good prices.
Even the people moaning about it on FB in the run up to the games suddenly want tickets though and they reckon they have sold another 1 million Paralympic tickets since last weekend.0
