Olympic Park? Can I visit?

We would definitely go between Olympics and Paralympics if it were possible, as we can't get tickets now. We've been inspired by the feelgood factor. They could open it to the public still, charging a fee to go for charity and I am sure charities would staff it.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

It would be quite an achievement to open it between the two events though - a lot of the venues will have to be completely rejigged for the Paralympic events (for example, I assume the current athletes areas aren't nearly as wheelchair friendly as they will need to be). Some of the events are completely different (goalball anybody?) and there'll be a massive cleaning job to do as well. Rounding up hundreds of charity workers in the next few days and training them would be a mammoth task too.0 -
Remember the London Eye was meant to open just for the millennium celebrations.
It is still there, 12 years later!0 -
Surely the legacy was part of the bid? They can't just leave it as it is...There will still be plenty to look at and nice river walks there.0

Only at least 40 million who haven't seen it.!barbarawright wrote: »Thing is, it's £10 a go now but it's largely staffed by volunteers. It won't be quite so profitable with paid staff. They certainly won't want another London Pleasure Gardens . Given that 2 million people have visited in the last two weeks and there's the Paras to come, are there *that* many people left who won't have seen the place? Plus, without any events going on, it is really just a load of buildings round a river and the river isn't going anywhere...0 -
Was in the stadium on Wednesday night courtesy of Coca Cola, (I love a vip hospitaility.) in a comp the wife won, and to watch these guys competing was wonderful. Saw Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake in the 200m semi's. The stadium was rammed to capacity, and outside everyone was in a party mood. There were Police everywhere, but not one person did I see step out of line.
The downside was after the session ended at 10pm, where it was heaving with people getting out, but it only took us around half an hour to get the Javelin from Stratford Intl into St. Pancras.
And saw Johnny Vegas on the stairs on the way out and got some pics and a chat with him. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
i found some Orbit tickets on the site, but it says you need an Olympic day pas with it. Can you buy that one when you get there? So the Excel ones are only for Excel venues - different venue to the Olympic park? Sorry,it is probably obvious to most , but I am confused.
I am another one who decided too late. :-(0 -
Yes its true. The Olympics is only for the privileged few and not for the nation to enjoy. If you have no money or are unemployed or employed but have no money or cant get time off,you are excluded.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

no you can't buy an olympic park day pass when you arrive, it needs to be available to buy on the London 2012 site.
The Excel day pass is only for the Excel venues.0 -
